Reposted on: 26.5.12 1348.42 | Last year, everyone was hating on an American Idol contestant named John Stevens. Though only a teenager, his mellow singing style harkened back to the days of Fred Astaire. Not good for a pop show like Idol, and not good for Stevens whose weaknesses were shown on themes like Gloria Estefan night. The public hatred for this kid was so huge it spawned johnstevenssucks.com before he was mercifully voted out.
Out of AI Season 3, the only people I know of to have album releases are Fantasia, Diana DeGarmo, George Huff and William Hung. On June 28, you can add John Stevens to that list. I initially scoffed when I found the link, but the songs on his website sounded pretty good and fit his style of crooning well. I think this Red album will find success for those who like light jazz sound. His cover of This Love is interesting, to say the least.
