Howdy do. I've recently purchased a ticket to attend the lovely wrestling show that will be next week's Raw. It's the first time I'll be attending any, and I mean any, wrestling event, so it should be awesome.

So, I was wondering, about signs... What's some general etiquette tips besides "Don't be the douche that blocks the guy behind you the whole night"? What's a non-assholeish amount of signs to bring? i'm thinking like 3 or something. I'll probly be lazy and actually want to watch the show. Anyone got any neato ideas?

Only thing I got so far is "[insert wrestler here] Fears My Little Pony" with a rainbow made of glitter... unless glitter's too expensive, then somethign else will have glitter. It's got to have glitter. Got that while talking to a friend of mine who has a bit of a thing for My Little Pony, sadly she doesn't watch wrestling. But hell, it's the only idea I got so far (and I think it's funny).

Now I just got to figure out how to get to the saddledome. Ah, being a nubbins in Calgary, jolly good fun.

If you're on the same side of the arena as the hard cam, forget it. Even the cameras on jibs don't get around to pointing that way, and your only shot at getting it on TV is one of the roving photogs...and that's a long shot.

Although one of 'em did get my buddy 2 seats down on the TitanTron (God bless Lillian for still calling it that) at this past Monday's RAW in Green Bay.)

And as for the "even if it's not on TV, maybe one of the wrestlers will see it and like it" thought of school...uh, no. There's so many of 'em out there, and the workers have enough to concentrate on as it is, that all the glitter and My Little Pony references in the world won't help it stick out.

Not to poop on your parade or anything...sorry.

Sign ideas - if you want to get on TV it's often a good idea to pretend you are a fan of one of the midcard guys just about to get a push. While I am and have been for a good while a huge fan of Christian's work, it seems only recently that the camera focuses in on the signs of his peeps, as well as the Captain Charisma and CLB signs.

At this rate, a "Master-Lock Me" sign might get noticed.

As far as the My Little Pony idea goes, I'd suggest Hassan only because I'm too tired to think of something better for him - and he is a heat machine.

In the Raw thread I already suggested the "Trish was right - Lita's a Slut!" sign. Maybe instead a "Kane - Divorce Lita" sign is only a slightly bit more clever but still not too hard for the masses to understand - the typical amount of cleverness the 'E likes to get on the air. Following up on this week's promos is often a good idea, how about "Kane + Pain = Friends"

There's not much happening on the tag scene to warrant a sign.

Since the draft doesn't start next week - its too soon for the "Put HHH on waivers" or "Draft Taker" signs that almost surely would get airplay.

Depending on your weight/physical appearance, Suppose you clock in at 300+ lbs. - you might want to try "I use the Simon System" for the humor value. This might also work well if you are very very thin.

For those old enough to remember Bart Simpson's catchphrase, apply it to "Big Vis - Eat My Shorts"

I'd enjoy seeing "We want ECW Tag Champs Doring and Roadkill"

All time classics with arrows pointing to yourself like "I need a date" or "I'm Drunk" or "Not Wearing Pants" usually get a chuckle.

A plug for "the-W.com" might be fun for us wieners.

The important thing is to have fun. If you do block the action (only do it during the entrance), be respectful of those behind you and have the courtesy of showing them the front of the sign you blocked them with. It's bad enough to be blocked, it almost makes up for it if you can see that the front of the sign was at least funny or clever.

Be sure to let us know what you decide on, what side you're sitting on, etc., so we can look out for you.

Ah, Calgary...my old home, soon to be future home.

Getting to the Saddledome is really, really easy. It's on the southward side of the LRT system...its the first of the two Stampede stations. If my memory serves me correctly, it's the first stop heading south from Downtown.

I found parking out there to be attrocious, so take the time to take the transit if you can get away with it. Calgary has a pretty SWEET transit system, IMHO.

And as per signs...you could always go with the classic "We Want Bret" signs that always pop up at Calgary shows. Whether they'd get any airtime or not...I don't know, but you'll certainly get some crowd reaction with it.

Also, wave the Canadian flag...that ALWAYS gets on TV.

Saddledome's at the Eastern end of 17th Avenue SW, just across McLeod Trail. There's TWO Stampede Stations on the LRT. You want the Victoria Park one (the more Northern of the two). There's usually a bit of parking at the end of 17th, and a LOT scattered around the Victoria Park area around the 'Dome.

I am also going, but I can't be bothered with signs since due to my dumb luck I always end up on the camera side.

if I remember rightly, my seat's in section 224, which (I think) puts it near the left-ward corner opposite what looks like the entrance (looking away from said entrance). Figured signs were a total crapshoot anyway, but gosh darnit... ain't never been to a wrasslin' show before (The last time there was wrestling in Goose Bay was the year Adrian Adonis died, and alas, I was a young child and my parents wouldn't let me go), figured I'd go full tilt. Even going into work an hour early so I can leave an hour early to get home and dump the tie.

Plus, it'd be awkward to walk into work carrying a big assed piece of bristol board with "[wrestler] Fears My Little Pony~!" on it... 'course, carrying that on the train will also be awkward.

And it looks like I'd have no problem taking the c-train down there. I'm living in the Kensington area, and I think there's a a stop just a couple roads over. Blimey, better take it some time the weekend just for kicks, to see how long it should be about to get down there.

Maybe I'd be less psyched if I had actually been keeping up with what's goin' on for the past year... but I doubt it.

Hold up a sign that says: "Warning: Placeholder Show," or "Mom, Tivo Everwood!"

There's always "Calgary Fears The Draft" as well.

The way the last two shows have gone I would go with the "Quit Booking On Cocktail Napkins" sign.

If you want on TV, get 6 or 7 (or more) poster boards and do the WOOOOOO! thing (your neighbors in your row will most likely be glad to help you out). Those signs always seem to get on tv, no matter where they are.

"ECW"

Just putting that on a placard will garner instant TV shots, even for a mere second.

How soon before or after "ECW: One Night Stand" is the Calgary Raw card?

How about a sign reading, 'Welcome to Bizaroworld'.

No doubt we can expect Shawn Michaels vs a Canadian, refereed by a Hebner !

SO, have you decided on the signs? If so, what do they look like so that we can spot you on TV tonight?

I got lazy and went shopping and got drunk on the weekend. I didn't even bring my labrador flag.

But, if you saw a guy with a bit of a mop for hair, stuffing his face with nachos and popcorn wearing a yellow shirt... that was me.

Taber Corn is truely over.

What the crowd was chanting. This was during the taping of Heat.

And this was when they were chanting it during RAW.
