During the match, Masters charged Stevie in the corner. Stevie kicked at him, and Masters grabbed the foot and clubbed him right above the knee. Stevie sold it wildly, and that's why he was on the mat when Masters locked in the nelson. It may be of note that this same knee was wrapped and braced beforehand.

The thing that struck me last night was Batista's presence. I actually think that the WWE may have been smart in not having him talk and run down people all the time. W

It seems that when all they show is a few shots of him sitting in silence throughout the show and then he comes out at the end with music and pyro that he is bigger than everyone else. Not pysically, but in the way that he doesn't need to cut promos against people, he just... is the champion.

It's hard to explain, but he seems like that character you see in many video games and action movies that doesn't say a whole lot, but at then end of the movie he steps out to confront the heroes and you know there's going to be a FIGHT.

That is an accurate assessment. He's WWE's version of WCW's version of Goldberg -- and that's not a criticism in the slightest. People boner out for him when he beats the hell out of people and when he screws over Hunter. People are less interested in seeing him sell and I'm betting significantly less interesting in seeing him fall to Cerebral Assassin Plot #2. (#2 is fake breakup. #1 is attacking a guy after his match. #1a is attacking from behind.)

Hunter doing a hardcore beatdown of Batista before a Hell in a Cell is fine/good/proper booking. Flair doing his stupid ass Flair Turn sucks hard but it's par for the Raw course. The most inexcusable thing is that Super Tough HHH With Big Balls challenged Batista to the HIAC instead of Batista coming out next week and demanding HIAC to settle it Once And For All. Nope, obviously Hunter would want to get Batista one-on-one in the most violent structure known to human beings. Why would he sweat Batista? Or a HIAC? He's a badass.

He's a dipshit.

Yes 'HHH Criticism Rocking the Boat' Guy, I am knocking Hunter cuz he done did something stupid.

Edge & Lita are a good act even if they don't seem entirely comfortable with it at the moment. Lita had good lines and Edge has super heel presence.

Vince as ECW's big brother is nauseatingly counterproductive. I think Vince is great but this and last week were about his two most obnoxious and annoying back-to-back performances ever.

I think it's rather telling by Vince's entrance that he's got some ego problems.

The first week back from the Rumble injuries they cut to the crowd when Vince was climbing the ring steps, and it was bandied about that perhaps he had some trouble doing so.

The very next time he came out, the stayed on his shot and he just freakin' STOMPED up the steps, as if to say "So you think I have problems getting up stairs? You think I'm weak? F*CK YOU! That's what I think!"

Not even close. Go back and watch every Vince ring entrance from here to '98, and on a good 80% of those occasions he'll stomp his way up the steps exactly as he has done these past coupla weeks. It's like the William Regal Apron Foot-Wipe-it's just something he does.

You're right that the exaggerated power walk has always been a Vince trademark, but I agree that during the last two weeks, he has been especially careful to really pound his feet against the stairs on his way up.

I didn't mention this in my first post becuase I was too busy bitching about HHH ( ), but Shelton Benjamin is the man. I can't believe that people claim he doesn't have charisma -- he's got tons of it. It's just not the type of over the top stuff that we're used to seeing in WWE. IMO, he's just got a way that when he says something he's very believable . It's sort of understated, but I think that it makes him all the more likable.

It was also way too soon for the beatdown because Vengeance is on June 26. That means we have another four RAW's filled with the same old Triple H schtick. Maybe Eugene will come back to referee the HIAC?

It was a classic WWE overexplanation to their simpleton audience. Vince's presence was unnecessary. WWE fans have seen Heyman on TV as a GM and a marquee manager for guys like Lesnar and Big Show. Its not far fetched that he could afford to run 30 second spots on RAW and Smackdown. The promo was a huge letdown because Bischoff's disdain for Heyman translated into a big no-sell of the promo. It was all just another big Vince ego trip where he could say that he financed the rebel promotion and put WCW out of business. What a swell guy. In reality, Vince failed to keep ECW afloat as a feeder promotion and Bischoff, Russo, Nash and Hogan were mainly responsible for killing the goose that was WCW.

I don't always mind Vince's revisionist history because sometimes it helps to sell an angle but all this did was make ECW sound like OVW.

I didn't mind Raw this week. It wasn't as good as the "Gold Rush Tournament" weeks, but it was still decent.

I'm not huge on the WWE vs. ECW angle that they're trying to play up...but admittedly, I'd really like to see an ECW show come out of this. Obviously, Vince sees ECW as a very popular entity. Why not make it brand number three? Heck, it works for CSI, right?

All and all, I was really enjoying my Hunter-less WWE Raw, and I was disappointed with the Flair heel-turn. Come on, man...I think there could have been at least a little bit of drama there, right? Have them bond for a couple of more weeks at least!

I missed Judgement Day, so I was kind of hoping to see a Smackdown Rebound on the show, at least explaining what happened.

Speaking of Smackdown...I loved the "Who's Mark Jindrak?" comments. Are they planning a feud for CLB if he is drafted to Smackdown? I think they could do something good.

I might catch Raw again tonight (thank you TSN!) for the ECW promo.

I always thought Vince's strut and awkward walk was because of all the groin and lower extremity injuries he's had over the years of becoming a wrestler and on-air superstar .

Even if someone would steal the briefcase, the worst they could do would be to destroy the contract so that Edge wouldn't be able to get his heavyweight title match (that's why Edge keeps it in a locked briefcase and takes it everywhere with him). Logic would say that Edge's name is already on the contract so that no one else could use it but him and all he has to really do is just fill in the date for when he wants his heavyweight title match.

And if you're looking for a WWE legal precedent regarding title shots and contract signings, I refer you to the case of Benoit v. Michaels (2004), whereby the defendant signed his name to the plaintiff's contract. Nonetheless, this signature was considered legally final and binding by all parties involved and the WWE was forced to alter the main event of Wrestlemania 20 to accomodate the addition of the defendant.

Edge has already signed the contract, he signed it the Raw after Wrestlemania.

Yours truly also attended RAW in Green Bay...my first RAW event ever. Man, I miss "Thorn in Your Eye"...but the current theme song must be catchy; I caught at least one of WWE's ringside cameramen lip-synching along.

Oh, and that security detail at the top of the show for the Edge/Lita promo? 75% of 'em were ACW-NWA Wisconsin guys:

--Shane "Fiddy" Hills
--Black Stallion
--Mason Quinn
--"El Diablo" John Johnson
--Dinn T. Moore (1/2 of NWA WI tag-team champs)
--"Metalhead" Steve Stone
--Angelo Stefano (retired manager)
--Adrian Serrano (NWA WI champion)
--Angel Armoni
--Marco Styles

And the plant who handed Maria the hot dog during the Lillian/Viscera deal was our own Silas Young. Plus, dark match victor CM Punk has worked for us, and ex-owner Mike Mercury and new ACW champ Quinson Valentino were backstage. And to top it all off, our own Ref Kyle made the TitanTron during PromoterFest (Bischoff/Vince/Heyman).

Sure wish you would have told me in advance...I would've invited you to ACW-NWA WI's party at Hanrahan's inside the HoJo's on Ashland Ave. Daivari, Hassan, Steven Richards, Chris Masters and Rosie all showed, along with a bunch of our roster. Plus karaoke!

Interesting...I thought it was because of the grapefruits he always has to carry around.
