Because The Ws demand more soda threads...

I just saw this show up at my local Vons and Target, so I picked up a 20oz bottle to try.

I really like it! At first, it has a very similar taste to other Splenda colas, like Diet Rite (and now Pepsi One). But the more I drank, the more it tasted like real Coke. It's got that good sweet taste without the heavy feeling in my stomach or instant rotting sensation in my teeth.

A warning though, if you've been heavily addicted to the original Diet Coke for years, you probably won't like the Splenda version. It is pretty sweet. But my biggest problem with the original is that it never tasted enough like Coke. This does.

Now they just need to get the 2-liters and cans out there so I don't have to pay $1.19 every time I want to drink the stuff.

I've had three bottles so far. I have liked it less and less each time I had it.

First time I had, I thought that yes, it does taste like real Coke. But that sensation lessened over time.

Incidentally, Coca-Cola Zero comes out next month. This will give the ceompany four zero calorie colas; Original Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Splenda, Coca-Cola Zero, and Tab.

Part of the reason Coke discontinued "Coke Classic" while simultaneously bringing in New Coke was because if they'd had both colas out at the same time, there was a pretty good chance that Pepsi would beat one of them, and then say "We've got the #1-selling cola".

Now it's like Coke, and Pepsi, are Capcom and they can't count to three. We've got Coke Classic, Coke with Lime, Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Splenda, Pepsi One, Original Pepsi, Pepsi Twist, Pepsi Vanilla, Pepsi Champion Edition, Super Coke II Hyper Fighting...

I can't imagine they'll keep all of these on the market. Is Coca Cola Zero just going to be a rebranding of Diet Coke with Splenda? I don't see much point in having two diet sodas on the market that taste (or attempt to taste) like the real thing.

Plus, some people actually prefer Diet Coke for whatever reason. Does Diet Coke with Splenda dilute the Diet Coke brand name? Can Coke Zero and Diet Coke with Splenda coexist? Burning questions, all. In the end, I imagine you'll have Coke, Coke Zero, and Diet Coke on the market, with all the various and sundry lemon, lime and vanilla variants thereof.

From the sound of this press release, Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Splenda, and Coca-Cola Zero are all seperate beverages that will remain on the market.

SOunds good; I'm wondering if the new Diet Coke will be released in Canada. I'm enjoying the Coke with Lime immensley.

I'm really huge on the original diet Coke though.
