I have only two questions:
1) When did Dusty Baker get the nickname 'Computer?' 2) When did Dusty Baker begin caring about the long-term health of young pitchers' arms? Promote this thread! | | thecubsfan

| #4 Posted on 23.5.05 1252.38 Reposted on: 23.5.12 1254.05 | Over the weekend, Baseball Tonight's Jeff Brantly had an interesting idea as to what direction to take with Zambrano.
Due to the fairly stacked nature of the Cubs starting rotation (Wood, Prior, Maddux, Dempster, Rusch), & Zambrano's physical & psychological make-up, the Cubs should seriously consider converting Zambrano to a closer.
Seeing as the guy is seriously intense, has no fear, & throws strikes, I thought it wasn't a bad idea. Plus, it'll allow him to ease up on his batting practice since he won't be called upon to hit that often... ;-) | spf

Zambrano is a freaking horse when he's on the mound, and has nowhere near the injury history of Wood. Put Wood in the game for 1 inning at a time and the piss-poor mechanics he has go out the window since he can just bring his heater and bring back the slurve and go crazy on batters. Plus Zambrano is WAY too fragile, even moreso than Wood, to ever be a closer. If Carl Everett wasn't in this city he would be the most insane player in Chicago. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
