I'm not that interested in a Masato Tanaka or Sabu appearance unless they're actually wrestling. I do like how they just announced them instead of using Raw/Smackdown to set any of them up, but I guess there is still plenty of time for them to do that with a few other yet-to-be announced matches. | Matt Tracker

Of course, Paul Heyman is booking this, so you never if a match will turn into another match mid-way.
I too hope that's not the full-card. I doubt it, as they have a bunch of guys to use. What's the point of bringing in Kid Kash if not to let him wrestle? I'm guessing they'll just announce these one at a time.
I will say this: I'm more excited about this show than I have been any other PPV in years aside from WrestleManias.

Other differences between this and historical ECW PPV matches -
1. expect pyro. I don't know how they'll pull it off in the Hammerstein Ballroom, but Vince loves big explosions,
and of course,
2. the performers will get paid.
My suspicion is that a couple of the SD! and Raw! low-midcard guys invade the arena, and try to garner support from their opposing brand's GM to look forward to a draft/trade etc. This will undoubtedly be more about pushing WWE then remembering ECW. | J. Kyle

Can't call him Balls Mahoney? That's not very extreme, is it?
All joking aside, though, this looks like a really solid card. I love Eddie/Benoit and all, but it's been done a lot. What I'll be looking forward to is Rey Rey and Psychosis locking horns again. And of course, the 3-way dance should be a lot of fun.
And my continuity sense is satisfied now that they've brought in the SINISTER MINISTER~!

According to the ECW magazine that was just released, the whole card will not be announced. They talk about how in ECW they only announced a few matches, and Paul Heyman remembers driving to the show and writing possible matches down on a napkin. They said that that same thing will take place on this PPV (matches not being announced ahead of time, I mean, not Paul booking the show on a napkin at 5:30 that afternoon).
The magazine also went out of it's way to say the show would be as authentic to ECW as possible with no fancy production, only a few cameras (not 10 cameras like WWE does), an ECW ring, ECW referees, etc. | The Vile1

Where does it say that Tazz is going to commentate the event? I've heard that Tazz plans on wrestling at the show, not announcing. Either way he's a color guy, not PBP.
Plain and simple, no one other than Joey Styles should commentate this event. If not, just even more proof that this is just WWE's imitation rehash.

I have mixed feelings on this. I watched a ton of my old ECW vids (and the DVD) this past weekend (sick in bed on Saturday), and even though I love the guy, Joey just wasn't that good on the mic. I thought he got a little better when he got a color man, but, really, Joey alone hurt my ears.
On the other hand, I can't imagine ECW without Joey, warts and all.

As others have said, they will only be announcing a few matches before the PPV. That said, I understand that they're trying to sell people who watch WWE on the PPV and need to promote those "known" wrestlers, but at the same time I would have preferred the majority of the "announced" matches to be between non-WWE guys. | Spaceman Spiff

| #36 Posted on 2.6.05 2122.41 Reposted on: 2.6.12 2125.14 | According to Scherer (pwinsider.com)
Originally posted by PWInsider Internally they, misguidedly, budgeted the show to do 300,000 buys, which is more than the average brand-only show does. Then the tickets for the show, which were priced extremely high, went on sale and didn't sell out, which the company hadn't expected. Even though some people in the company told them that the $400 price tag for the top seats was just too high, WWE management thought that, largely based on the sales of the ECW DVD, there was a demanding fan base that would be willing to overpay for the tickets. Then, the tickets went on sale and they found out they were wrong.
...
The original plan of making it a pure ECW show was thrown out the window, and it's now scheduled to have many WWE workers, from both brands.
In talking to a number of people in the company, some of who worked in ECW and some who didn't, the expectations for the show have gone down considerably. People who were very excited about the PPV even a few weeks ago are now dreading it. Instead of it being run by "ECW people" like Tommy Dreamer and Paul Heyman, it's now a baby of WWE Creative.
Gotta love this company. | BigDaddyLoco

I know my group of wrestling elite go and see PPVs at the Emagine theatre. Does anybody know if these count as more than one buy? Because the Emagine just has a digital cable setup that they run through the projector, the "Purchase Event" menu is even seen if you get into the theatre early enough. |
