Very lackluster and disappointing section. I think WWE is relying solely on the old-school ECW hardcore fanbase to sell this PPV. Although in my opinion, not enough of those people bought ECW PPVs when the company was still in existence as its own separate entity to warrant such an approach.

They may also have waited too long after the ECW DVD cooled off. And they may give it a soft sell to prove that Paul can't pull off a big buyrate even with the WWE machine pushing his product.
I'm gonna get the show, without a doubt. I enjoyed ECW on those few occasions I saw it, and I fully expect them to go all-out for a good show. I'd also like to see a true rejuventaion of the Dudleys that can carry over to the WWE, and if they can unleash Bubba on the mic ... well, that would make my night more than another Rotten/Ballz bleeding contest.

The push for this thing is almost non existant, so is this for the net fans? If so why haven't they released even one high power match for the card? I think this thing might work for them if they really went after it, but I have a feeling it will fall into a pretty shameful looking buy rate ... wait what are they charging for this anyway?
Edit: I can't find the ECW thread, but they should make Taz fight for letting himself go so badly. Jerry Lawler is like twice his age and can still do a 10-15 minute in the small time circuit when he wans to.

Doesn't Tazz have a neck injury that's keeping him out of the ring, regardless of the length of the match? I would imagine that it probably hurts his work-out time as well (if he would even want to bother going all out in the gym anymore, since there really isn't any upside to it busienss-wise).

| #8 Posted on 22.5.05 0033.22 Reposted on: 22.5.12 0033.37 | What's even weirder is that according to the current WWE storyline, if you want any kind of news on the ECW pay-per-view at all, you'll have to get it on SmackDown. (And for all I know, Teddy Long did the same thing Bischoff did on RAW, 'cuz I missed SD!)
And allegedly no RAW Superstars are gonna be there, so that eliminates Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Steven Richards, and Tajiri. Steve Austin and Mick Foley are both former ECW guys who are "officially" on the RAW roster, but they're both semi-retired and, in Austin's case anyway, not really thought of in the same sentence as ECW.
On SmackDown you've got Al Snow (semi-retired), Bubba Ray, D-Von and Spike Dudley, Eddie Guerrero, Nunzio (I think), Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam (injured), and Tazz (out of shape) as former ECW talents. So, yeah, WWE's gonna have to rely primarily on outside talent to promote this thing. We know Lance Storm's gonna be a part of this, and I wouldn't be too surprised if Dean Malenko were there, but other than that, we know nothing else about it.
It'll be interesting to see if they can pull this off so that not only does it get people to watch, it gets people saying, "HOLY SHIT, what a show!" | The Vile1

They also have Nova (Simon Dean), Tommy Dreamer (retired), Rhyno (fired but I have heard he might be back for the show), and probably another I'm forgetting.
They show Sandman prominently in the commercials for the pay-per-view, but he's already confirmed for the "real" ECW reunion show "Hardcore Homecoming" which is the same weekend. I wonder if Vince/Heyman are getting anyone who's set for that show (Sabu is also confirmed), or if it's very much an if-you-do-that-show-you-aren't-doing-ours kind of thing. | rvjgd

Balls Mahoney is just listed as Mahoney. Can 'Balls' be too embarrassing to print ?
Bischoff says he has assembled a list of WWE stars to invade the ECW PPV, so we make our own guesses judging from the possibles mentioned in other posts.

That's where I see this thing headed. If Heyman had just gotten a bunch of these guys together on his own for some kind of low budget show it would probably come off better than the WWE's corporate *unslicked* approach. It's like a yuppie going out and buying a nice flannel shirt and preripped jeans, it's an attempt at being grunge but it just ain't grunge. | Oliver

Didn't Styles say that he'd never work for Vince Mcmahon? Maybe if Vince put some serious coin down, but I doub;t Vince would do that.
