After reading Bill's DDT Digest WCW History thread, I am hankerin' for some old WCW gimmick match goodies. I think everyone can agree that War Games would be a great thing to add to the WWF. How about the Lethal Lottery? The 60-man 2-ring battle royal? The Thunderdome? (okay maybe not the Thunderdome). Any other gimmick matches or WCW tidbits you folks want to see?

I hated the 60-man battle royal. Way too many jobbers and I just didn't get the concept that they fought in two rings then, just out of nowhere at the end, the guys that are left are supposed to jump into the other ring.

Ok, enough bashing of that gimmick match. A couple that I liked were actually inventions of the Russo Era. One was the House of Pain. Kind of hard to build up drama in an ending of a match when you have to do something as drawn out as shackle somebody to the side of a cage, but it was still a match type that produced some pretty brutal wars.

I also liked the Triple Cage match. The one they did with Russo in the match where you had to ESCAPE with the title was weak, but the ones where first to get the belt up top were awesome. It was like combining a Hell in a Cell with a Ladder Match. Imagine a Triple Cage match with some of the guys on the WWF roster right now... The possibilities are endless.

Unfortunately, I can't think triple cage without thinking of David Arquette.

And I think fondly of that great movie Ready to Rumble! Woo! Man, I must be the only idiot that enjoyed that piece of trash. Just glad I didn't pay for it.

That Nitro (I think) ladder match between Jarrett and Benoit, where evil Jarrett had gimmicked Benoit's ladder, and each rung fell off as soon as Chris stepped on it.

The Crippler's frustrated facial reactions were just f'n awesome.

But aside from that...any WCW match featuring LA PARKA rocked. "The Chairman" always had his own gimmick with him, and played air guitar on it in the entranceway! Take air guitar lessons from this luchador in the skeleton suit, Hogan.

WarGames is awesome. Definitely the definitive way for two stables to resolve their differences once and for all. Of course, sometimes it causes the feud to truly begin in earnest, like the last real WarGames match did in 1997 for the Horsemen.

The Lethal Lottery would be... hmmm... interesting, if actually done in a lottery format. Oftentimes when I saw it, it was a blatant excuse to put two feuding guys (say, Flair and Savage) against two other feuding guys (say, Double A and Hogan). And to make it worse, one of the guys on each team would have a partner on the opposite team. It was strange, but interesting.

I think it would be made really interesting if the picks were truly randomized, though. The team of Triple H and The Hurricane, for example, would absolutely crack me the hell up.

Another thing that I think the WWF could benefit from is a Cruiserweight Tag Team Division. The teams of Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman, Air Paris and A.J. Styles, Elix Skipper and Kid Romeo, et al. were great fun to watch. The Cruiserweight Tag Team Division was perhaps the only thing worth watching during the waning month or so of WCW.

I always thought "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal" was kinda cool...except for that stupid "Coal Miner's Glove" match that it resulted in.

They had a similar concept at the NBA Slam Dunk Contest this year, and that was all I could think of...

It is truly time to bring back the San Francisco 49'ers match where there were four boxes to open.

One could have Kane's mask.

Another could have a copy of "Positively Page."

The third box would have the hand from the Mae Young pregnancy.

Of course the fourth box would be full size and have Abdullah the Butcher, Mick Foley, Terry Funk, and the Sandman pop out. Watch out Tommy Dreamer!!!

bring back the Hardcore Invitational, let Lance win it, and then let him rename the title what it deserves to be: S.H.I.T.

Yeah, except it's not a good idea in the WWF where, not only are Cruiserweights themselves NOT over, but they seem to be trying to phase out the Tag Team Division. So let's let them try to sell the Cruiserweights on their own first.

Heh. Like that would ever happen.

GOOD OL' JR: “Well, by golly, I sure wish we would start taking our light heavyweights seriously.”

Well then by golly, JR, you're a vice-president, get it done!

Edit: Number 500! Whoa.
