Doing my own comparison shopping, the thing that looked the best was the ZonePro Security system. I just wanted to hear anyone's opinion (good/bad/alternate brand suggestions) before I pulled the trigger on this and I wanted to ask this while I still have a few days left to decide.

Reposted on: 16.5.12 1129.01 | I use Zone Alarm Pro, Pest Patrol and NAV 9.0 on all my computers--Dell Laptop, Dell PC, and an older gateway.
I have never used Norton's firewall programs but my Dells did come with all the MacAfee sofware--virus scan, firewall, etc. After about 3 weeks, I ditched all that for ZoneAlarm Pro.
One of the features I like best is that it asks questions about what kind of CPU you have, what kind of Internet connection and what your main uses of the CPU are.
After that--it self-configures and allows certain programs the amount of internet acess that can safely be given while still restirctign access to unknown programs and Internet sites. It allows MSN/AIM and Y! to work without prompting the first time, for example. So far, I have no complaints. | Guru Zim

Reposted on: 16.5.12 1430.37 | I tossed the free version of AVG (grisoft.com) on my mom's computer, which is old and was full of virii and spyware. I've been very happy with it, as I don't have to fix her computer every time I go home. There's a 30 day trial on the website, and I think there's a free version somewhere on there, as well.
There's a beta of a firewall/antivirus thing now that seems to work pretty well on her computer, as well. I installed that the last time I was home.
