Nevin went 4/4 last night, bringing his average on the home stand up over .500 and won the game with a walk off HR in the 9th.

He's putting up fantastic numbers and the fact that the padres have that kind of record at home is amazing. Think they can keep it up all year? | squiz

Actualy, he's playing 1B this year. But he was horrible everywhere (Det, Hou, Angels) before he went to San Diego. I guess he finially got comfortable after he stopped catching. Because I can't figure out what else it could have been to turn him around. | Guru Zim

He didn't want to become a career minor league player, and I think he knew that the Padres were his last chance.
Considering he was the #1 overall pick by the Astros, I think he probably had an attitude problem up until that point. Thank God he got focused and became the player he was capable of being.

Phil went a little nuts, but it was a pretty bad call. Not as bad as some of the ones on my man Ray Durham Monday, but that's a different story for a different time. Keep up the good fantasy work, Phil. | LordOfTheSmarks

It's actually become something of a high point in any Braves game I happen to watch. | cfgb

My favorite was a game in Florida a few years ago. Bobby was screaming from the dugout. The ump told him if he took one more step up from the dugout, he'd be ejected. Bobby took two HUGE steps up the stairs and looked to the ump. He was tossed - which meant we got our traditional 3 minutes of Bobby gettin' all up in his area.

Which is ridiculous since Glavine & Maddux get practically another foot added to the strike zone on the outside corner.

| #11 Posted on 17.4.02 1255.23 Reposted on: 17.4.09 1259.02 | Well, Boche got tossed really quick. They never showed how far out he was, but apparently he hadn't even left the bench? I'm taking that from the announcers, as they didn't have a camera on him (but since they didn't, he probably hadn't moved yet).
The calls were pretty bad last night. The ump was calling strikes about 6 inches outside and 3 or 4 inches below the knee.
I'd have loved to have had the ESPN strike zone thing going for last nights game. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
