That whole situation has been odd. Is Chappelle in bad shape? Or is his heart just not into doing the show anymore? | Promote this thread! | | Whitebacon

I know he got sick, but I also seem to remember him talking about not being able to come up with fresh ideas for the new season. You know he could just whip up a bunch of Lil Jon and Rick James stuff and kill a few episodes, but it seems like he doesn't want to do that.

You have to give the credit if that is the case (which is what I have heard). Most people would have just phoned it in and not gave a damn. I always got the impression from Chappelle that he would continue to re-work something until he was rolling on the floor laughing at it too.
Hopefully he finished a few shows for the new season.... | Packman V2

Unless they've pushed it back again, it should be out May 24th. | Reverend J Shaft

Actually, the Yahoo! article linked to above states that Paramount has indefinitely pushed back the release of Season 2 to coincide with the start of Season 3 episodes airing on Comedy Central. | Zeruel

In a surprise announcement, Comedy Central said Wednesday that it had halted production of its hit sketch comedy show starring Dave Chappelle. In a terse statement, the cable network said that it was "optimistic that production [of Chappelle's Show] will resume in the near future and that the third season will not premiere as scheduled on May 31. Neither the channel nor Chappelle would discuss the announcement. Not only does the show attract nearly 3 million viewers, a huge number by cable standards, but a boxed DVD set of the show's first season sold 2 million copies, making it the best-selling comedy title in DVD history. Today's (Thursday) Los Angeles Times quoted sources as saying that the show had been pushed back because the network was concerned about whether Chappelle could complete the season's 10 episodes. He reportedly complained of exhaustion recently and took time off.
Season 3 is going to be a whopping 10 episodes????
Season 1 had 12 (14 if you count the "Mixtapes.") Season 2 had 13 (16 if you count the "Mixtapes" and music special.)
At this rate, IF there's a season 4, it'll have about seven or eight episodes. He might as well have the BBC produce his series.
EDIT May 11
He's in South Africa.
