Does anyone know if this is going to be a new spin off of the series?

I ask because this past Thursday they aired an episode in which Det. Brass headed out to LA to help his
wayward 'daughter' find a prostitute buddy of hers. CSI Warrick was in town to assist him, as well as new characters who were on the LA CSI Unit. They gave them real histories and it was super involved to have just been a normal episode. It definately seemed like a set up for a spin off show.

Personally, I think it's so soon for a spin off, since CSI:NY just started this season. They definately need more work on that series because the script writing is so-so and it has an air of predictability, at time. I was hoping they'd improve that one first.

I've checked a few places online, but never came up with an answer. So, I figured someone here woild know.

OH Sugar-Honey-Iced-Tea!! CSI is a CBS show. My mind was on Las Vegas, the show on NBC.... Pardon me and that NBC logo there. sheesh!

I'm pretty sure it won't be spun-off. CSI: NY isn't having an easy time in terms of ratings on Wednesday nights, and I don't think another "CSI" is in the works at all.

I read an interview with one of the CSI producers, Zuiker I believe, and he said, the struggles with CSI:NY will keep them from doing any other CSI's, they feel the demand for them has levelled off.

So probably not for a while.

I think the woman was just there for some heavy Jim Brass backstory since that had a History in Jersey. I don't know why they wasted our time with that other LA guy but I missed Gil heavily.

I think they did this episode as "filler" and to show more of the supporting cast for when Grissom is finally gone. Grissom has been less and less of the main focus as the time has gone along this season. Brass also hasn't had much in the way storyline in the past so he finally got "his" episode. The show worked for me and I liked the way it was left open at the end.
