| #1 Posted on 21.4.05 1531.33 Reposted on: 21.4.12 1532.23 | I recently had to restore my computer from death using the pre-installed disk partition that came with my computer. Now this reset all my system software, so I didn't have the 75 or so "deathly important" security patches for XP, so I dutifully went to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to download them.
The "please wait while we invade your privacy to see what you've got on your hard drive" page comes up, but the little security warning doesn't and so I'm never able to run the little ActiveX installer for updates.
I emailed Microsoft tech support about, and their automated reply said to wait a business day for my answer. imagine my surprise when I get an email from them this morning saying that since they hadn't heard back from me they'd be closing my case!
