| #1 Posted on 20.4.05 1024.30 Reposted on: 20.4.12 1029.03 | With Kid Kash's recent release, citing that otherwise he couldn't work the One Night Stand PPV, I started wondering... who WON'T be there at this proposed PPV?
In order to do an ECW "legacy / nostalgia" PPV, you need the legacy / nostalgia performers. Right now they're split between three camps... WWE, TNA, and the indies. The WWE guys are basically a given, it's part of their company duties, but how many mainstays of ECW are going to be locked away from this by TNA contracts, and how many indie folk are simply not going to be interested or will ask for too much money?
For instance:
Dudleys, Dreamer, Tajiri, maybe Taz -- WWE. Pretty much a lock. Taz may not be in wrestling shape, though. Raven -- TNA. Considering he's a main eventer over there, he's not going to be on the WWE's PPV. I have a lot of trouble imagining an ECW reunion without him. Rob Van Dan -- WWE, but injured, and thus can't do much more than hop on one foot and point at himself... hrm. Rhyno -- Way too on the outs with WWE to be part of it. Rats. Sandman, Sabu -- Are they TNA guys or just indie at this point? What's the score?
In the end, if they can't get the names that people commonly associate with ECW, is it really an ECW show anymore? Promote this thread! | | Quezzy

Like you mentioned Raven won't be there, neither will Shane Douglas or Rhyno. No Mike Awesome, no Eliminators, RVD is injured, Taz hasn't wrestled in forever, Dreamer is in bad shape.
Really it looks like the only "ECW icons" the WWE will have and ready to go is the Dudleyz. But they can get enough other role players like Nunzio, Super Crazy, Lance Storm, they can probably get Credilbe I'd imagine to make it seem like a ECW show, and enough big name guys Benoit, Jericho, Eddie for a legit main event.
I think as far as being a ECW ppv, it's going to fall short without the big ECW names, however if you just sit back and watch the ppv and just enjoy the matches it should be a helluva show to be able to enjoy Benoit, Eddie, Jericho, Tajiri, Super Crazy, Nunzio, Stevie, Storm, Credible, Dudleyz and not have to worry about sitting through Triple H, Cena, Heidenreich, Undertaker, Snitskey, Masters, Hemme, and La Resistance.
Plus, as of now Heyman will have nothing to do with it, and without Heyman, it's not ECW.

Also planning on attending at this point: Nunzio, all three Dudleyz, some kind of FBI combination (featuring Nunzio), Stevie Richards, maaaaybe Nova, Super Crazy, and Lance Storm.
Sabu and Sandman will not be there as they are both currently under some type of contract with TNA. However, as a draw for the PPV itself, I could easily see Jericho, Eddie, Benoit, Rey, Malenko and other guys with acknowledged ECW pedigree showing up as well.

Actually, the lastest I heard is that Heyman IS on the creative team advising Tommy Dreamer, who is booking the PPV.

They won't be at WWE's show they will be at Shane Douglas' show: *Raven vs Sandman *Sabu vs Terry Funk vs Shane Douglas
And Joey styles will call the action for a future DVD release. Todd Gordon is also involved in this event.
Also rumored to be at Shane's ECW show and not on WWE's are: *Jerry Lynn, Chris Candido, Bam Bam Bigelow, Francine, Tracy Smothers, Johnny Grunge, JT Smith, Gary Wolfe.
Steve Corino says he will work NEITHER show.

Tommy Dreamer indicated to TNA that he was interested in using Raven, and others for the event, but TNA is not expected to let them.

I thought I read somewhere that TNA has been talking to them about appearing at their ECW show and possibility about working with TNA in the future. | Matt Tracker

I'd figure them as a lock for SmackDown, a show that used to rely on Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty. The promos for Melina to taunt DD&RK could write themselves.

There would have to be atleast one or two mentions of TNA though. For instance, "Raven now performs in TNA after a successful run in WWE." Something like that. A lot of the true ECW *icons* are really in no shape to on the kind of matches likely expected of them. You could throw all the Balls Mahoney's, New Jack's and Rotten's in one big garbage match. The WWE would have to be careful not to put on a Heroes of Wrestling type of deal. Although, I'd be real interested in seeing what Big Sal and Bill Alphonzo look like these days.
Don't forget the WWE will most likely wheel out Cactus Jack.
... and what's with Steve Corino?

I don't see any chance of that happening. Would it be a good deal for TNA? Absolutely. But would WWE actually give them a plug on the air just in exchange to use Raven and Jerry Lynn for one night? I sincerely doubt it. Whether you think TNA is a threat or not they are the closest thing to competition out there. From the WWE standpoint there is no sense in legitimizing them. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
