Incidentally, the real reason that Maryland was, er, weasled into staying into the union was that Lincon, shall we say, arrested the Governor and key leaders in the legislature to ensure a vote on secession(which likely would have succeeded) did not come to a vote. Check out the lyrics to "Maryland My Maryland"; the tyrant referenced is Lincoln.
