I'm a 25 year old in a small non-college town looking for something to do. I enjoy a bar from time to time, but there's got to be something else to do other than get drunk and going home smelling like a butt.

Anyways, I have a friend in town who's not familiar with the area and all we do is sit around wondering what to do. We've gone bowling, gone out to eat, gone to a movie. That's about it. anyone have any suggestions for generic things to do in a small town for two college-age people?

1. Buy a PlayStation 2.
2. Buy "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."

That's all this city-boy's got for you. (Other than, "go find a city", of course.)

Well, I am a long way from 25, but I did grow up in a small town. Hunting/Fishing - yes. Sports-wise, find a softball team, that's fun. Churches, Bars, organizations have teams and it goes on all summer. The non-church leagues combine your love of bars with the softball. I didn't catch where you were from, but winter-time, we rode snowmobiles and in the summer, dirt-bikes (today, ATVs, I suppose). Most small towns today have poker games going, leagues and all, look for those.

and I know, it's not for everyone, but find a relatively cool church (probably the methodist or evangelical free or Community church). You'll meet a lot of people, they often have young singles groups and you do stuff together. (ok, probably a little less drinking in these groups)

My 2 cents

If your town has a school system, small town life revolves around activities at the school. Everything from sports to booster suppers. Sounds bad but it's where everyone meets and you get to know people and what is going on in town. You can also join a civic group - Lions, Rotary, whatever. Do they have a rec commission holding activites? If you are boring, so is small town life. No a dig but it takes more work to thrive where you are at but quite possible. AWA is correct, small town churches offer alot and aren't nearly as stuffy as you might think.

I always liked churches in smaller towns, they always seemed to have friendlier congregations. Life is always at a slower paced in smaller communities.

Lets see here, small town activities.... HMMM

Cruising the loop, drinking, playing PS2, drinking, school activities, drinking, church cr@p, drinking, and did I mention drinking yet?

Im not 25 yet, but it seems for me when I'm home from college that we all do a lot of drinking or cruising the loop, so not much for other thoughts.
