Evil empire or not, you hate to see this...

Carl Pavano nailed by line drive

Here's hoping Pavano gets out of the hospital soon. But was it REALLY necessary to point out that the line drive came one pitch after Jason Giambi missed a routine pop up? Seems like rubbing salt in the wounds.

I saw this, and it was pretty nasty, but Pavano didn't seem to immediately have any problems, so that's good. He was actually lucky because it hit him in the side of the head rather than the back of the head or his face. Still, I bet he didn't feel too lucky walking back to the dugout.

I hate to say but Pavano is a pretty tough SOB to have that ball knock him upside the head and not even get knocked or anything, I hope he's ok, and that has nothing to do with him being on my fantasy baseball team....seriously, it doesn't.

Good to hear he's only mildly concussed. In recent memory, we need only invoke Bryce Florie as an example of how bad this could've been.

Man that was brutal! I am just happy he wasnt killed! That ball must have hit just the right spot on his head to rebound like it did,but not knock him out.

All i got to say about this is that it was a sick shot to the head.

HEY PAVANO, piece of advice, rejoin the NL and come with the winners. You never got nailed before you joined the ($$$$$$)[virgin eyes buffer] Yanks, and you wouldnt if you had stayed with the Marlins....

Yours Truely,

All hail your 2005 World Series Champions.... The Chicago Cubs.... "We are the Champions"....

I remember a few years ago I was watching the Red Sox play... somebody... in this nice seafood restaurant. The Red Sox's pitcher pitched the ball, the opponent hit it and the ball fucking SLAMMED into the pitcher's head. No side impact, no glancing blow, it fuckin' hit him right in the dead center of the head.

I immediately jumped to my feet and almost said "HOLY SHIT!" in shock and horror-- but fortunately, I remembered where I was. I certainly used some slightly milder expletive, though.

I hope Pavano's gonna be OK, because you hate to see anybody get hurt like that. And I'm not easily confused for a Yankees fan, either.

I think you're thinking of the previously mentioned Bryce Florie.
