Surprise, surprise, start of play was delayed by rain.

For me, the shots of the azaleas and the piano playing is the biggest signal of spring to me. I am hoping it's going to be Ernie's year this year.

and all the players are actually on the course. The wet fairways and soft greens today will favor the shorter hitters since they will more likely get the longer iron shots into the green to stick. I'm looking for Lefty to repeat but it really depends on whether Tigger can keep it in the fairway or not. Adam Scott can't be overlooked but I think the real dark horse is Carl Spackler....

I only got to see the last hour or so on USA, but some of those greens were really fast considering it had rained for so long earlier in the day.

Goon's right about it being a sign that spring is here. I'm still debating whether or not to do a drinking game for Saturday and Sunday with a buddy of mine based on how many times Jim Nantz says "hallowed" on the broadcast. We tried it a few years ago and ended up not remembering much about Mike Weir's win.

and it is raining again in Augusta - looks like Round 2 won't finish until Saturday afternoon - they could be playing 36 on Sunday. Tigger, Els and Sergio better wake up and start playing some golf if they want to be around on Sunday.

On a side note, Billy casper shot a 106 yesterday carding a 14 on the 16th hole. There have been complaints about the older past champions still teeing it up but i say screw them - these guys earned the right to play and the tournament wouldn't have the history it does without them. I loved Casper's line to the reporters following him after he hit his final drive yesterday - "I only need a Par to shoot 105."

I'd probably shoot 105 on the front nine at Augusta, so let Casper play as long as he wants.

It was emotional seeing Jack leave the ninth hole today, since the announcers were saying it was highly probable that this was his last Masters. The rain delays cost Jack a well-deserved standing ovation at 18, but any way you slice it, he's the greatest of all time.

DiMarco is just utterly kicking everyone's ass at this point. Unless Tiger, Vijay or Phil go nuts on the weekend, it's DiMarco's tourney to lose.

Big Bad: DiMarco is just utterly kicking everyone's ass at this point. Unless Tiger, Vijay or Phil go nuts on the weekend, it's DiMarco's tourney to lose.

Well, Tiger went nuts, carding a 66 to complete the 2nd round this morning and then shooting 31 on the front nine in the 3rd before play was suspended for darkness. He caught a big break on 10...drove perfect, but MUD ended up all over his ball. Nothing doing, he calls it a night and will come back tomorrow with a clean ball and an "easier" back nine to *warm-up* for the final 18 on Sunday

But DiMarco is holding up well. 67 this morning to finish the 2nd and -3 going out for the 3rd. He'll also get a full back nine to play tomorrow morning, and for my money *hopefully* gets a pairing with Tiger for the Final Round

I'd rather than Effin' Tiger win by 10 shots than win in a sudden death playoff.

Good final round...I was hoping it would be close, and to end in a playoff...was great...Props to Tiger...he deserved it, although hopefully DiMarco gets one soon.

Tiger certainly looked like the old Lefty on 17 & 18 trying to lose the Green Jacket and then he just drilled that final putt - that one would have gone 30 feet past the hole if it hadn't gone in. His chip on 16 reminded me of Noonan's putt on 18 in Caddyshack the way that it hung on the lip.

And Chris DiMarco - looked like he had folded on Sunday morning and came just a rim away from winning it with his chip on 18. He will have a jacket of his own soon enough.

Myself and threee buddys got together to watch the final round yesterday and we NOT dissapointed. The thing that made the afternoon even more fun was the commentators words:

"That was a FRISKY shot~!"
"He got a FORTUITOUS roll there."

and other assorted comments thru the afternoon that made us laugh.
Also making the day great was I won the Master's board here at work. SWEET~! $75~!

DiMarco will get the green jacket one day. Oh yes, he will.

Was the frisky line from David Feherety? I could listen to that guy all day, he's hilarious.

And Bill Simmons now claims that all the announcers must be too old for NONE of them to use a Caddyshack reference at that point. I agree. I immediately thought of Danny Noonan!

Heh...I'd go out on a limb and speculate "that gawddammned Chevy Dangerfield Movie" is on the list of "things not said / referenced at Augusta." Like "bikini waxed greens" and "fans". McCord ain't personas non-gratis for no reason. The Masters is no place for tomfoolery! (although the collective heart attack and fallout if that had made the broadcast would have been a Hoot)

Another line I remember them using twice was about how Woods had a "sarcastic putt" to him, trying to throw it in Mickelson's face.

A sarcastic putt? Whut thu??????????

Absolutely..the couple of times I've listened to him on Jim Rome, he's classic, and he's by far the best video game commentator ever. His lines on Tiger Woods Golf for EA Sports are great. Golf could use a lot more people like him, lighten up a sport that is usually so proper.
