TNA just is snakebit right now. Even on those odd occasions when they get something right, they screw it up.

Today's main event was a heaping helping of workrate goodness: a four-way X Division match between Elix Skipper, Petey Williams, Chris Sabin, and Michael Shane, who evidentally has his name back. It even had serious storyline implications, since the winner got the X Division title shot at Lockdown (the next PPV). Nothing at all wrong with this match. Yet they found three ways, two minor and one major, to mess it up:

1. At the outset of the match, X Division champ Christopher Daniels, guesting on commentary, said his opponent would be the guy who scored the first pinfall. The announcers didn't contradict him. But it turned out to be an elimination match. I prefer the elimation format, but it was disorienting to be told the wrong thing.

2. TNA decided the match was big enough that they devoted most of the rest of the hour to pre-taped interviews and video packages, thereby cutting time off their long taping at Universal Studios. A bit annoying, but understandable under the circumstances. I suppose I would have suggested breaking things up a bit more by putting the one other match (Abyss squashing Cassidy Riley) a little later in the show to break up the stream of taped stuff. But one of the taped segments had the BIG problem:

3. One of the taped segments, was a well-put-together video package--PROMOTING THE X DIVISION TITLE MATCH AT LOCKDOWN BETWEEN CHRISTOPHER DANIELS AND ELIX SKIPPER!! How brain-dead do you have to be to promote the match at the PPV on the show where the upcoming main event will decide who is in the match? I don't so much care about exposing the business, although this certainly does that; I just hate the way it took all the tension and excitement out of a good match. Not that the outcome was exactly a shock, but there were enough other possibilities there that there would have been some tension.

I so want to be a TNA fan. Can't they just get it right once in a while?

I dunno, I still watch TNA, but it just feels campy to me. I like Styles, Daniels, and a couple of other guys..but the whole thing just seems really campy. The storylines are lame, there's nothing fresh about the 6 sided ring, or the PPV names they use.

I can't figure it out..but then again, maybe it's not something I'm supposed to be able to figure out.

I was one of TNA's biggest fans, but they seem to really be going nowhere but in circles.

AJ vs. Abyss in a cage? Now granted those two have had some good matches with each other, but to feud them against each other again so soon? It appears that they're wanting to push AJ towards the World Title scene again, but I wish they'd feud him with someone else.

And what about Abyss's World Title shot that he one nearly 2 months ago?

You probably imagined it...besides, why would TNA do something easy like stay with continuity. That would make too much sense.

I feel the same way a lot of times. I'd like to have a decent alternative to WWE, but TNA hasn't been that yet. They're usually decent but rarely better and often worse.

To me, they just don't seem to understand what they have to do to be successful. They hire WWE castoffs as if that's what people want to see. As if WWE would release people that they thought had a shred of drawing power. To an extent, I can see guys like Jeff Hardy, Ron Killings, and Raven being big name guys because they were never fully utilized in WWE. But Nash, Gunn, Page, and Hall, those guys mean nothing anymore, and they don't get that.

Another example of this is there selling point for Lockdown being two cage matches. Now, that's kind of cool, but shouldn't a cage match be the blow off to a big feud rather than the start of one? Shouldn't matches be announced before the stipulations? And wouldn't one cage match draw as well as two? These are the things that I don't get.

And obviously, I could go on and on about the Monty Brown turn, the looooong Jarrett title reign, or a few other things, but really this sums it up. The good things that they've done have been mroe a product of great workers like Styles, Daniels, Skipper, AMW, and a few other guys. The rest has been crap. TNA needs to stop being similar to WWE in all the ways that do them no good and start differentiating themselves into a viable alternative that will actually entertain people and eventually help the company become competition.

They do get it right once in a while. About one a month they put out a PPV with a stupid name. Forget Impact and try one.

I've been losing track of the show lately, but I thought Abyss was trying to claim his title shot from Trinity and Traci when he got into the fight with Styles that led to the cage match.

And if I heard correctly, the cage match is ALSO for a title shot. Is Abyss putting his existing title shot on the line? Or are they fighting over a separate title shot? What happens if Abyss just keeps winning title shots, and Dusty just keeps booking him in #1 contenders' matches instead granting the shots?
