Did Rob go too far in tonight's amazing race? I mean, our unfavorite team was eliminated. We hated that guy, but the least Rob and Amber could have done was roll down the window, pulled over and asked if everyone was OK.

I was so glad Meredith and Gretch made it. She's a rock. She Juiced! Hardway!

I dunno - I think it was a prickish thing to do by Rob and Amber (and certainly won't do them any favors), but by the same token, what do they have to lose? All the other teams hate them anyway, so it's not like they're going to get more hated. They probably figure they'll be Yielded anyway next time it comes up (probably by everyone who gets there in front of them), so might as well make the push when you can.

Fantastic finish tonight - I loved Brian and Greg beating out Ray and Deana to the mat. Just flat-out outran them. It was a thing of beauty... at this point, they were the only team that I really actively disliked (partially because they reminded me of the Jonathan / Victoria debacle from last year, albeit not quite as bad, partially 'cause they sucked as racers). I actually didn't think it was going to be as close as it was - I thought it was just some nice editing. I'm not big fans of Ron and Kelly, but that's more that they seem a bit generic than anything else.

Also, I loved seeing Uchenna / Joyce absolutely rock the second Detour. Both the brothers and them are probably my favorite teams at this point.

I wouldn't have stopped if I was Rob or Amber. (Which would be odd, but go with me here.)

My thinking is if there's another team there to get help if needed (which there was) and no one's in a huge panic (the teams were standing around waiting by the time Rob and Amber rolled past), there's nothing you can really add by stopping. If they needed you then, they'd let you know.

I think the best solution was to slow down, roll down the window, and ask, which the other teams did.

(I also think he didn't think about stopping because the gay guys were there, and they didn't want anything to do with them.)

I'm sure I'm liking Rob and Amber more than I should as a reaction to other people equally irrationally hating them, but I still think they were okay here. Far from perfect, but not outright horrible.

The new "we take everything" policy for last on a non-elimination is neat, but kinda annoying how it was logistically irrelevant - outside the airport, there was no place they could've spent the money they lost, and it wasn't neccesary there.

The idea of taking the bags away seems to ensure the penality means something - they don't just gather cash during the rest period and at the start of the leg - but . Maybe it'll wear on them and mean something later, but it didn't mean anything here. (Maybe Joyce's team made a good move giving them clothes - less stuff to carry on their own!)

I think that Rob was WAY over the line, in this case, because not only did he not stop, but also grinned and chuckled over the fact that he didn't stop. I'm sure that's because he may have thought it was Lynn and Alex who rolled the car as opposed to the Brothers, but still....

This was an absoultely great leg of the race, from Deana actually showing some spine for all of about 10 seconds, to Uchenna and Joyce continuing to rock the challenges, to Meredith/Gretchen and Brian/Greg overcoming some serious adversity to keep themselves in it.

But back to everyone's absolute favorite team, it's almost strange how much of a polarizing issue Rob has become. In a lot of places online, disliking Rob has nearly become a capital offense. I know most reality show viewers love the manipulative, arrogant, mean-spirited bastard, but I always liked TAR because it was above having players like that. Add to it that things continue to look very suspicious that CBS is trying to fix things to keep Rob (Amber? Who? You mean Rob has a partner?) around....

Also, I've noticed every time there's a real footrace to the mat, the Brothers are involved.... curious as to if that's some sort of foreshadowing....

(EDIT : spelling...)

I love Romber's antics, but I'm getting tired of them consistently finding Survivor fans to help them out. This is what, the third or fourth 'guardian angel' that's helped them along the way? Looks kind of fishy.

I'm openly rooting for the brothers, Romber, Uchenna/Joyce and Meredith/Gretchen, just because they would be the upset winner to end all upset winners on TAR. Lynn/Alex get on my nerves with their irrational hate for Rob/Amber and their borderline racist comments. Kelly seems all right if a bit useless, but Ron seems like a douchebag.

Ray needs to chill out. "I don't know if Deana is competitive enough for us to be together." WTF? Does he plan to enter more Amazing Races?

This is only my second season of TAR, so I'm not totally clear yet on how the Fast Forward works. Does everyone get them on one stage and teams have to make a choice to risk it or not (like Rob and Amber did this week), or are two of them randomly placed around during the Race so ANYONE can get them?

There are two fast forwards total throughout the entire race. It's up to the teams if they want to risk trying for it, because you might get shut out and fall way behind (as kind of happened to Rob and Amber, except that they didn't really fall behind). The Fast Forward used to be on every leg, so almost every leg you'd have one of the straggling teams jump up to the top or one of the top teams (who would get the option first) jump out several hours into the lead, but once it turned into a crutch for teams that were almost assuredly going to get eliminated, they cut back on them drastically (and at least one of those teams that I remember got eliminated anyway). So, anybody could have gone for it tonight, but only Ray and Deana and Rob and Amber actually did.

Other Random notes:

-TAR got it's own Icon, yay!
-I wouldn't have stopped either. Rob and Amber owe nothing to either Lynn and Alex or Brian and Greg. If it was an emergency, sure, but it was obvious that everybody but the camera man was just kind of milling around by that point. It's not their job to Good Samaritan every time something bad happens to another team, and Lynn and Alex probably would have stalled them for as long as possible.
-I don't know how bad that fall was, but for an old lady, Gretchen is hardcore. My mom would probably have freaked out.
-I was so releaved when Ray and Deana got eliminated. Her I could stand, and he didn't bother me nearly as much as some of the other assholes in Race history, but they are painfully mismatched. I think Ray and Lori from last season would have a great future.
-BOOKER T~!
-Ron and Kelly are the most boring couple in TAR history. Man, the producers must have thought they struck gold when he applied. But Kelly isn't particularily striking (for a beauty queen, I mean. She's cute, I guess, but they've had far more attractive women on this show, ones who weren't even model/actresses), and Ron is just plain boring. Listen to their arguement next week. "Ron, we need to get moving." "Would you please shut up." "I'm never speaking to you again." All delivered in the most monatone voices ever. It's like these two just met and are having a long, really awkward date.
-The Brothers are really starting to grow on me. They're some of the most "normal" people ever to be on the race. They're just total goofs, but they play on that.
-The one thing that really strikes me about Rob is that he's always very engaging and nice to the people he's not competing against. I think that's very telling of his non-playing persona, and how much of his smarm is just an act. From trading hats with his driver last week, to the way he always jokes and bribes and shakes hands with cab drivers, service people, detour and roadblock guys. He's always on his best behavior when he's with somebody "outside the game".

Romber should have at least rolled down the window and asked if everyone was OK but it's not a capital offense and didn't give them that much of an edge anyway. Doing the water instead of the food is where they made up even more time. And does anyone really think that Lynn & Alex would have stopped if it was Rob & Amber who rolled their car ? They probably would have giggled and accelerated away.

Losing their huge backpacks may have been a blessing in disguise for Gretchen & Meredith as now they can use some of the money they get for each of the next legs to buy some lighter weight equipment. The extra weight had to wearing them down.

Adios & Good Riddance to Ray & Deanna - didn't she look like she had been beaten by the end of the show last night ?

It's is probably totally irrational (as cubs may have been alluding to), but I cannot stand Rob. He does things just to be mean-spirited. When he got pissed at Lynn and Alex for denying them admittance to their taxi-van, that was ludicrous. That was exactly the way he had been playing the game and he got all whiny because someone else acted that way back to him. Oh boo hoo. Cry me a river.

Someone at work asked what does he see in Amber and I answered that he sees a million dollars, since he didn't win Survivor. She's the millionaire, not him.

Rob gives Red Sox fans and Massachusetts in general a bad name. If I saw him in person, I might punch him in the eye and I am about the most mild-mannered person you'd ever meet (assuming I would ever actually meet any of you).

It's no different than someone with language skills using them in a foreign country.

It is a race, plain and simple. Use what you can use to get ahead and win. The biggest shock of the night was not that they did not stop, it is Rob's utterly PATHETIC attempt to throw a spear! I said to my wife, "Here is where Rob and Amber will pull away" when it was announced they would be throwing spears at a moving object. I thought for sure that he would be forst or second to complete it, especially when you watch the clips of some of the other racers throwing the spear. But Rob was AWFUL and I thought for ure they would suffer for it. But once again, he made the right decision, choose the wate, and cruised to second.

I will root for Rob and Amber to make it to the "finals". It is there that I am hopinbg the Brothers pull fo the win. At some point, Amber is going to bog Rob down.

I think some people forget that these folks are not racing in a vacuum, where we get to watch through "magic eyes". There is a crew and a plan to deal with situations such as this. There really wasn't any need for anyone to stop, and certainly nothing anybody could have done to actually help (unless you take Lynn/Alex's definition of "helping", which is apparently standing around and doing nothing). When there's a wreck in NASCAR, you don't see the other drivers stopping and asking if they can help. I also feel that if I was in the brother's shoes, I wouldn't have expected nor wanted anyone to stop on my behalf. It would be pointless (and in fact, the brothers waved everyone through and tried to get L/A to go ahead and leave). No need to cost somebody else the race because I screwed up. That said, I would probably would have rolled down a window and asked as a courtesy. But even so, it's ultimately an empty gesture that accomplishes nothing.

The "not stopping" thing I don't see as a major crime. But Rob being pissed (at least he seemed to be honestly pissed) about L/A keeping the cab for themselves deserves criticism. Rob would have done the exact same thing, and he should know it. Now I can respect those tactics in a race, because ultimately it is just a game, and those kind of tactics really don't hurt anybody. But if are willing to dish it out, you have to be willing to take it. Rob should have recognized it for what it was, and frankly applauded L/A for out-Robbing Rob.
