They actually did a great job, and it was wonderful that, by the end, it seemed like the whole arena was screaming for a Bucknell win.

St - Stanford game, which was a blowout from about the 16-minute remaining mark in the second half. Meanwhile, the other three games are at least closer than 10, and there were a couple of potential upsets brewing. However, we don't switch over until the Miss. St - Stanford game is at a margin of 20+ and there's only a minute left in Bucknell / Kansas.
That being said, fantastic job by Bucknell. Who would've thought that a hook would be the winning shot? | BOSsportsfan34

Ugh, the same thing happened to me. During the first wave of games, with Duke up twenty with under ten minutes remaining, they jept us there instead of going to the end of any of the other three games that were all one possession. They showed the last minute of Syracuse-Vermont and then didn't even go back for ANY of Overtime. Then in the second set of games, they stayed at Georgia Tech-George Washington and only showed a minute of Bucknell-Kansas and none of Michigan State-Old Dominion. | spf

That doesn't make much sense, since Kansas was in back to back Final Fours in 02-03 and were an overtime loss away from making it three in a row in 04. But that aside, Illini fans need to get over themselves already. Illinois is not anywhere near the prestige level of the Big 4 (Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina), so it's time to stop acting like it’s such a crime that Bill Self would dare to leave. And if Bruce Weber is laughing about anything, he’ll stop the minute he takes a look at his incoming classes now that Self isn’t doing the recruiting anymore. | Eddie Famous

"the Big 4 (Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina)"
Which one of these is not like the others....oh yeah! Kansas! Because they didn't get to the second round!

And which one of those teams did Bill Self coach? And how close did he get Kansas this year? AS CLOSE AS WINTHROP.
(Of course I know karma's a bitch and will probably slap Illinois down against Nevada, but this is too much fun to pass up )

The hatred Illinois seems to have for Bill Self is dumb, and so is saying Self made a mistake by leaving. In a few years when Kansas is filled with Self's recruits and Illinois is filled with Weber's, there won't even be a conversation on the subject. Kansas fans hating Roy Williams is dumb too, for the most part. If Roy was trying to lure his Kansas recruits to UNC as some people claim, then I can understand being upset about that. But we don't hear half as many Kansas fans still complaning about Roy compared to the way it is with the Illini and Self.

Actually, they're pretty happy the way it all worked out at the moment...

Gee, that's funny, I don't seem to remember typing anything about Kansas never making it to the Final Four.
I believe what I said was that they lose in the tournament to a team that they have no business losing to. I don't care if two of those losses were in the Final Four. There is no team in recent history _ and only the Fab Five leaps to mind as worse all-time _ that has consistently lost when it counted to inferior teams as much as Kansas. I don't care who they've lost to recently in the tournament. You'd be hard-pressed to find a team that beat them that had MORE talent than Kansas.
As for Bill Self, I don't care if he can out-recruit the Marine Corps. He lost to a 14 seed. Bruce Weber hasn't. So why don't we wait and see what they both do for a couple years before we proclaim Bill Self to be the reincarnation of John Wooden and Bruce Weber the reincarnation of Steve Lavin, okay? | redsoxnation

Not holding this year's loss against them, the Fighting Bob Huggins of Cinci have choked consistently against inferior opponents over the last decade. Wake Forest also has to be put in this territory, as no Final Fours since '62 for a school that had Duncan. And, slightly off-tangent, watching West Virginia survive Wake, was I the only one who started getting an '87 Providence/'83 NC State'esque vibe from West Virginia?

Agreed on Cincinnati, although you can throw out 2000 because they probably would have walked away with it all if Kenyon Martin hadn't gotten hurt. And I definitely should add, in four-year chunks, Georgetown with Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo and LSU with Shaq, Stanley Roberts and Chris Jackson. However, Kansas has basically choked every year since 1988, so we have a loser.
As for WVU, those boys can play. I'm from near Wheeling and people around there are always telling me "don't count these guys out if they get on a little bit of a roll." I used to laugh. | orangeman
