Has anyone else seen this show? It's on Discovery and the premise is outstanding: Two guys who are longtime special effects tech debunk urban myths using a little science and alot of tech.

It's a can't-miss every week for me. I've been slightly disappointed by this season (they seem to be doing only 2.5 myths an episode this time around), but some of the stuff that they do (and most of the stuff they build) amazes me. The ping pong ball boat recovery and the salsa jailbreak were two of my personal favorites this past season.

There's been a little too much "conflict" on the show lately, however. For some reason, if you have a show on the Discovery Channel, you have to have one screaming disagreement per show (a la American Choppers).

I enjoy the escapades of the Three Mythterns, particularly with the "balloons carry of the child" myth and the "ceiling fans kills husband" myth.

But I haven't yet seen a bad episode. Even if the experiments go awry, the show makes it entertaining to watch the derailment and subsequent, inevitable collapse into a flimsy excuse to destroy something.

What's encouraging about the show is that these are bright, capable people who have the basic skills to tackle a variety of projects, and they're not presented as fring-dwelling creeps or unsociable geeks. Well, OK, Jamie's homemade nutrition goop from the "air conditioner or windows rolled down" muyth was a bizarre look at his personal habits.

But otherwise, these, unlike so MANY other reality-show stars, seem like people you'd want to have over for dinner conversation.

They probably want to make sure they don't run out of myths. They probably tried to squeeze in as many as they could season 1 since they probably weren't sure how long the show would last. Now that they're in a 2nd season, they probably want to make sure they don't run out of stuff to do.

And Kari = hot.

There was an episode I saw recently where the myth tested was whether or not you could use dynamite to remove hardened cement from the inside of a cement truck. It might have been on the same show as the salsa jailbreak thing.

After using various small measures of explosives, they decided to see what happened when you filled the mixer with about 800 pounds of commercial high explosive. Find a suitable site, call in all the proper authorities, move to a safe spot over 1 mile away and they blew the thing to bits. It was vaporized, all that was left was the frame rails. It was impressive and damn cool.

All three of the female myth-turns are hot. Scottie especially.

My girlfriend and I have an ongoing debate on which one is gay. She says it's Jamie, but I think it's Adam.

You're both wrong. They're both married. To women. That were born as women. (That was according to their first after-show chat a few weeks ago. That was the first thing they said. Apparently, it's a hot topic)

I thought Adam was gay for the longest time. Dunno why. I think it was that one show where he got that tongue stud to see if lightning would strike it. Plus being in San Francisco doesn't help.

Just like with Dupont Circle here, if you say SF, people automatically think "gay."

Watched the episode about the ceiling fans. Fun, but the middle portion was bogged down by a drawn-out sgement about some guy's amazing propane tank.

Last Wednesday, I was walking though downtown Denver and a camera crew identfying themselves as "Mythbusters" stopped and interviewed me. The camera crew looked legit, but I didn't recognize any of the hosts/interviewers. Bunch of MTV VJ types.. one was a Latino guy named "Damon". Another guy looked sorta' like will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. They asked me about stereotypes and the myth that white guys can't dance. I agreed with the stereotype, but demonstarted to them the all-purpose White Guy Jog Dance Move. I was wearing a tie, so I'm sure they saw me walking along and thought "whoa, square white guy...get him!"

Either they were a phony start-up film crew trying to mooch off of Mythbusters' mild fame, or else the show is looking to expand next season with "hip" hosts. I asked "this show's on Discovery Channel, right?". They said it was. It would seem strange to mix up the show's formula, already. The real show usually centers around building stuff and accidents, so I suspect that this "stereotype" crew was a phony.

I thought I was the only one that enjoyed this show. I don't get to catch it every week but always sit down to watch it when I can. I loved the one where they got plastered and tried to beat the breathalyzer test. Great stuff there.

if either of them were gay, Jamie would strike me first. I don't know, maybe it's the beret, maybe it's the odd facial hair. And yes, Kari is hot.

Count me in as a fan. I remember a whole afternoon where Discovery aired nothing but Mythbusters episodes.

yesterday?

They showed about 6 or so episodes, from both seasons. It's funny how they've tweaked the show since season 1, and not in adding the uber-hot Kari Byron. The show seems faster paces and losing the folklorist helped.

A while ago. Could be a regular thing of theirs.

I don't actually think neither Jamie or Adam are gay. Just very weird. As for the chicks, my vote is on Scottie. Must be the tattoos.

sez her bio on the Discovery website:
Plus, she can belly dance and fire dance — often at the same time.

Yeah.

I saw this show for the first time a couple weeks ago...incredible. That and American Chopper by themselves make Discovery more than worth watching.

Am I the only one who thinks Jamie Hyneman bears a striking resemblance to Jeff "Skunk" Baxter?
