Details.

One of the artists I always wanted to see live but never did. His covers of Springsteen's "Tougher Than The Rest" and Tom Cochrane's "Life Is A Highway" were a lot grittier than the originals. And, in a nod to our Stampede, he sang the rodeo song "Calgary".

Not a big country music fan, but I used to be back in the day...he was one of the guys I liked...from what I've heard, his live shows were great, and the dude even broke out the Mechanical Bull and rode it during his show...RIP Chris.

One of the true originals who was often imitated but never duplicated. It's probably impossible to overstate his influence on the neo-traditionalist movement. For me, he was one of those artists whose name alone was enough to get me to buy something and I can honestly say I was never disappointed in anything of his that I bought or heard. His version of "This Cowboy's Hat" is easily, in my opinion, one of the top 10 country songs of all time and "Stampede" and "Silence on the Line" aren't far behind. He'll be sorely missed.

Chris's Stampede tape was easily one of the best tapes I'd ever bought, yet received NO airplay on country radio here in Canada. It often hurts when talented singers like him don't get the radio airplay.

I'll miss his stuff, for sure. Rest in peace, Chris.
