Ok...didn't see that one coming. I really don't know what to say here, except that I'm very slowly getting excited for this. I just wish they'd throw in Freddy, but beggars can't be choosers. To say this could be a revival for the Friday the 13th franchise would be an understatement. If this goes down, sign me up right away.

No thanks. The Kill Bill movies sucked and I'd rather not have some mega-stylized Friday The 13th movie that would likely have a strong Japanese kung-fu film influence and a 60's/70's revival soundtrack or something.
I guess I'm still bitter over no Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.

While sharing KaneRobot's sadness as the lack of the proposed Jason v. Freddie v. Ash movie, I can't honestly imagine myself not seeing this the opening weekend it comes out. But then I thought the Kill Bill movies were amazing.

I'll give it a chance. I wasn't really enthralled with Kill Bill 1 (and still haven't bothered with the second one), but the man does good work. I think he could do a lot of things with Friday the 13th and make it very enjoyable.

That would kick. Ash could fight Freddy with an earth Pokemon and with Jason he could use a water.. Pikachu might be good against Freddy since he's got those little shavers.... wait - are we talking about the same Ash?

Quentin Tarantino sucks and after sitting through Kill Bill Volume II and banging my head on the seat in front of me praying the movie would end I told myself I would never pay to see one of his over directed pieces of trash again. I had never seen so many people walk out of a movie 3/4 of the way through and the dude in front of me who was snoring didn't seem to be enjoying it either.

Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash would tarnish the ever-living fuck out of the Evil Dead franchise. I'd rather never have another Evil Dead movie made then for it to be some ridiculous crossover bullshit. Ash couldn't compete with either of them at all, logistically. Not to mention that the Evil Dead movies aren't usually horiffic-to-tolerable like all of the Friday the 13th and Nightmare films have been.

I'll give you that the Friday the 13th movies have been pretty terrible. I'm not sure that there is even one that rises to the level of "good"
But the Nightmare series has two great films under its belt and one good one. (Big hint on which ones, Craven is involved in all of them) The rest are mediocre but invariably there is at least one set piece per film that makes the rest of the film worth watching. Englund carries the films and when Craven is involved it raises the level of the entire franchise.
Plus Nightmare has this weird subtext that runs completely against the normal subtext of most horror films. The only other two films that rank with it are Ginger Snaps and the Robert Rodriguez take on "Body Snatchers"/"Puppet Masters"

Quentin Tarantino denied to Empire Online reports that he was considering directing a Friday the 13th film. "What's happening with Friday the 13th? Nothing at all! It's a complete lie," Tarantino told Empire Online. "I like Jason and everything, but I've no intention of directing a movie. New Line talked to me about it, but it was a complete fabrication, that article. I would love to do a horror film. I'm just saying it's not going to be Friday the 13th.."
Variety first reported the news last week that New Line had contacted the Kill Bill director about helming what would be the "ultimate" Jason Voorhees movie.
