I'm sure this six man ladder match is going to be a great match because of all the good wrestlers in it but I have a feeling I'm not going to like the result. I had heard the winner might get the title shot at Backlash but then they made it so you can challenge for the title any time you want. That was actually a good change becuase that made the slight chance of Shelton or Christian winning. You know neither of them is going to win the title match at Backlash, but either could atleast get a title match on a Raw. Then they had to go and throw Kane in the match. Now there is no doubt in my mind Kane will win it, and he'll probably want the match the very next night on Raw which really makes the whole "you can have your match anytime" stipulation pointless. I'd much rather see Christian win it but then realize that Batista is the champion (after the WM) so he chickens out of every oppurtunity of using it until someone other than Batista is champion. Of course it would also be awesome to see Benoit, Edge, Christian, Jericho, or SHelton win it and then say they want the title match at Wrestlemania next year, but we know that's not happening.

Did anybody else think that when Kurt was talking about the Bret/HBK Iron man match that he was going to challenge HBK to an iron man match? That would awesome in their primes but watching them wrestle for a hour now would just have me squirming the whole time hoping they're not going to kill themselves.

Whoever wins the Money in the Bank ladder match is going to be the first person to put over new champion Batista at Backlash. I say that honor is going to go to either Kane or Jericho.

And I see Shelton losing the IC title to Hassan sometime in the next 4 weeks, then after WM the two continue their feud and have their IC rematch also at Backlash.

I'm just waiting for Hassan to challenge Hogan and announce that the Iron Shiek is going to be in his corner for the match.

I actually expect Edge to win, and have that set up an Edge/Batista feud that will go on for a while.

One thing that actually did surprise me: for as much crap as Edge received from the smart fans in the crowd last night over his role in the triangle, Christy’s announcement regarding Lita still got a positive reaction. I think I heard some scattered boos, but by and large she still received a good pop.

And this may be reading too much into things, but there may be a chance that we’ll see some interaction between the six-man match and the women’s title feud. Kane had a match with Christian last night where he was laid out by Tomko. The implication of this is that Tomko will be seconding Christian in the six-man to boost his chances of winning. Lita, as Kane’s wife, could easily intervene in that match to counter Tomko’s presence, which would open the door for Christian and Tomko to intervene in Trish’s match to counter Lita.

If they play it right, this whole thing could spark a feud between the reunited Christian Coalition against Lita and Kane after Wrestlemania. If Matt is still around at that point and has gotten his head straightened out, he could also squeeze in there on Christian’s side to stack the deck.

My thoughts EXACTLY. I busted out laughing when her music hit.

The thing I found significant was the crowd reaction to Orton saying he was going to end Taker's record. They were NOT happy with that idea at all. I do like the idea of setting up a match where it really looks like Taker could lose at Wrestlemania, just to get the vibe going, if Taker still wins.

Yeah, but didn't Flair rip into the local fans pretty good during commercial so he could garner alot of heat ? That might have had alot to do with Flair not getting the huge positive reaction that he normally would.

Was that Robert Townsend in the "Dirty Taker" promo ? If it was.....my my my how his career has fallen.

Call me bitter from experience, but I really couldn't get into the Edge match or mark out at all for Lita's surprise appearance, because the whole time I kept thinking in my head over and over again: "There's that cheating scumbag" or "Whoooooooore......whoooooooore !!!" (lol)

Was it me, or did it seem like J.R. and Lawler were really struggling not to let anything accidentily slip out whenever they were talking about Edge ? They seemed to really be trying to choose their words and on what they said about him very carefully.

I totally agree with what a couple people on here have said already about Batista's thumb pointing. It now just comes off as really hokey to me. He needs to quit doing it.

I kept thinking that last night... they kept making what to me seemed like veiled references to it during Edge's match. Like "maybe people are just not happy with how Edge has conducted his personal life"... and then making it sound like they were talking about his wrestling persona.

It's still Lita's "hometown" and the story is still fresh enough that not EVERYBODY knows about it just yet. I'd give it a week and see how it goes then.

I agree. Let's stop right here.

You know, I watch the whole show, from start to finish, and I swear I don't hear a single thing Ross and Lawler say all night. I just tune them right out. At this point, they could tell the whole world the secret of eternal life and ultimate happiness, and I'd just be upset that Christian didn't win his match.

So ... what are the odds that Trish's comments about Lita during the Kane subplot were also digs at her behavior with Edge backstage?

I've seen some talk about the whole Hogan vs. Hassan at WM, but I just don't buy into it. Would Hogan put him over?

I'm more inclined to think we'll be seeing Hassan on the receiving end of a Stunner.

"Probably not gonna be no where near last year's Mania"

I dunno. It'll be nowhere near last year's Mania in terms of main event quality, and seven main matches with significant backstories, and the pleasingness of the final scene. But I think the three would-be showstealer matches (Angle/Michaels, DollarBank, Rey/Eddie) as a trio definitely have the potential to eclipse the XX trio (Benoit/Michaels/HHH, Guerrero/Angle, Rock&Sock). And if they book six minutes of London/Chavo instead of six minutes of Jindrak/Luther, the card from top to bottom will be a lot less cluttered. I know there's gripery over UT/Orton, but you're deluding yourself about how good each guy is (which is 'pretty') if you think they aren't going to have at least a decent match.

It's weird how Undertaker ends up going from a tag match with Kane against Rikishi & Haku to a match with Triple H at 17, and from a match with Nash to a match with Ric Flair at 18, and from a tag match with Kane against Snitsky & Heidenreich to a match with Orton at 21. He must not have been paying attention in '03 or else he would've ended up vs. Benoit instead of Showtrain.

Agreed.

Storylines aside UT Vs. Orton has the potential to be the sleeper hit of the night. Taker's most redeeming quality over the past coupla years has been his undeniable chemistry with the OVW guys (Brock, Cena), and unless I'm much mistaken he was also responsible for Orton's first decent match of any note back on SamckDown in 2002. I have cautiously raised hopes for this one.

I have to not only agree, but go out on the crazy limb and say it is THAT match that I am looking forward to most. Sure, the Money-in-the-Bank match should be great, and yes, I've loved every minute of the Batista build, but there's something about this match that has me ready to mark out in either direction.

Of course Hogan wouldn't job for Hassan, the reason they are building up that he is undefeated or not pinned is so it will mean more when he loses at Mania, Hogan beating Hassan is a WM moment, not the other way around.

And thank you oldschoolhero for reminding me of that match with Taker/Orton in April 2002, that will be on show for the Mania countdown show for sure at my place.

Oh god no. Hogan is a aged, part-time wrestler. His legend is already established, and he’s not going to be sticking around afterwards. He has no place being put over a guy who the WWE seems to be building up as an upper-midcard heel. Especially not one who’s already been handed a pinfall victory over Jericho and only lost to Benoit on DQ.

Hogan beating Hassan will do nothing for Hogan, while Hassan beating the legendary Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania would cement him as a threat.

Gotta disagree. I think even the casual fans know that the Hogan of today is nothing like the primetime Hogan. Beating him (with Davari's interference, of course) would be as dramatic as beating Slaughter or Snuka or any of the other legends wheeled out to put over a young guy. It would give him a LOT of promo fodder though and would be shocking only because Hassan is built so small.

If anything, it would cement the WWE's desire to put over a new generation if Hogan AND Taker lost to young guns at WrestleMania.

Yeah, but the alternative to that is that Hogan beats Hassan. If Hassan beats Hogan, he can at least maintain his momentum. What would be the long-term benefit to Hogan beating Hassan? Yeah, it'd be a nice, short-term feel good moment for the Hogan fans in the audience who want to see him win one more time. But it won't do anything to move Hassan's story forward. If he's going to be pinned for the first time, it should be by someone who could benefit from the distinction of getting that victory.

(Then again, the honor of breaking Kurt's undefeated streak went to Tazz, and we all know how long that push lasted.)
