As a Yankees fan, I would LOVE to own a real Yankees World Series Ring. But, even if I could afford it, I am not sure I would buy HIS ring.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/sportsbusiness/news/story?id=1995915

If Jose Canseco is in need of some money, he isn't doing a great job these days of hiding it.

Among the items for sale on his Web site are autographed copies of his new book "Juiced" for $58 and an autographed White Sox game jersey for $749.95. Canseco has also offered his 2000 New York Yankees World Series ring for purchase.

The ring, with 22 major diamonds and 34.5 grams of gold, can be yours for the price of $40,000.

Is he really that desperate for money, or does he really not care that much about baseball like some guys on the radio keep implying?

I read on Friday that he owes Mass. $32,000 in taxes, but his lawyer says he's not delinquent on his payments or anything & the accounting firm he was using missed paying his income taxes for a year (or something like that).

Furthermore, does this change/confirm anybody's opinion about the validity of the claims in his book?

I read something like that on ESPN.com, and it quoted a friend that said Jose just doesn't give a shit about the sport.

A Yankee World Series Ring up for bids? I wonder if Mattingly and A-Rod will try to outspend each other to get a hold of it.
And, in all honesty, I somehow forgot Canseco played for the White Sox.

Wow, some of that hardware went at what seems to be bargain basement prices for true collectors.

Tell me about it. I'm still not sure that Canseco actually played for Toronto for that one season --- and with Clemens, too! It was like having your sister suddenly start dating neo-Nazis.

You know Steinbrenner will put in the winning bid. He's been in the biz of buying World Series rings for years. (Ba-dum-bum!)

Or he could just get an up-close look at these (Red Sox's official MLB site) come the April 11th home opener at Fenway.

Well according to the Mass DOR he owes a little over $33,000.

So the question then becomes which of these lines will we hear more often:

"I'd have been happy to take a lie detector test, but no one would pay for it so people must believe me."

Or...

"The machine was rigged to say that. It's an MLB conspiracy because I'm Cuban. I'm telling the truth."
