| #1 Posted on 17.2.05 0947.07 Reposted on: 17.2.12 0947.21 | Now that the trailer is finally available, I can finally make mention of the movie that I can't wait to see this summer.
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
I am giddy with anticipation for this movie, no doubt because I read all of the books. April 29th can't come too soon. | Promote this thread! | | Excalibur05

The only thing that worries me is whether or not the studio is going to be able to "get" Hitchhikers, or not, especially after Adams' death. But all that said, it's definately on my list of things to see (along with Star Wars, Batman, and...uh...that's it). | OlFuzzyBastard

For one thing: Mos Def as Ford Prefect? You've got to be kidding. I hope to God they prove me wrong. As to the others, I have extremely high expectations for Batman, almost no expectations for Star Wars, and absolutely terrible expectations for Fantastic Four. | TheMASKEDComputerGeek

He was funny in his bit roles on Chapelle's Show, and he's a great actor. Get over it. The director's have the right sense of humor for the material, and Sam Rockwell and Martin Freeman are downright orgasmic casting choices. I have no fear for this movie, and I can't say that for anything else that's coming out this year. | MonteCarl

Only a few years back it was thought that there would be no way Lord of the Rings could ever be translated to a film. | Parts Unknown

| #10 Posted on 17.2.05 2119.38 Reposted on: 17.2.12 2119.40 | I really liked Coogan in "24 Hour Party People," but I think he's a little too...sharp, I gues, to play Dent. Freeman's a little more everyman-schlub (although younger than I had imagined Dent). Coogan's more Prefect than Dent, IMO.
(I think Mos Def is really inspired casting, too.)

| #12 Posted on 18.2.05 0807.25 Reposted on: 18.2.12 0807.48 | Just an advance warning: the movie probably won't be faithful to the book (imdb.com). Given how this will be the 6th incarnation (or the 5th, depending on how you look at it) of the HHGG, I'm not too surprised. I wouldn't expect a perfect transition from the books - heck, they're come out and admitted as much.
Although finding out Alan Rickman's doing the voice of Marvin is good news.

Most important for me will be the vibe. It has to come across as one big huge tongue-in-cheek mega universe. I am looking forward to this. A lot. | Fuzzy Logic
