The Little Thug That Could with his career scoring high.

Allen Iverson had one of those nights where he could execute his will at any moment he wanted, and against the Magic, he elected to execute it for the entire game, scoring a career-high 60 points.

``That's when you get the goose bumps,'' Iverson said. ``You honestly don't really feel it when the shots are going down. You don't ever get the goose bumps until the fans start to appreciate what you're doing out there.''

Iverson's 60 points is the most by a player in a single game this season.

Iverson, averaging an NBA-leading 29.7 points, was 17-of-36 from the field and made 24 of 27 free throws. His previous high was 58 against Houston on Jan. 15, 2002.

To be somewhat fair, Orlando really doesn't believe in playing defense.

To continue being fair, he shot less than 50 percent from the field. What a performance. Give a good shooter 36 shots and 27 free throws and you are looking at 60 points as a minimum.

So how many other players have scored 60 against Orlando?

Yes, he was a woeful 17 for 36. If only he had made one more........
Even so he's above the league average from the field I'd suspect. 24 for 27 from the line is pretty damn good too.

I didn't say I'd have been impressed with 50 percent either. All I was trying to say is if he makes 24 free throws, 36 shots from the field better be enough to get him to 60. I'd say if he can't make half of them, maybe he shouldn't be shooting so much, but hey it's Iverson and that's how he's always gotten his points. Also, I too, sadly, wouldn't be surprised if he was well above the league shooting percentage. I don't care enough to check though.

Look at it this way - if he shot 27 Free throws and 36 shots, you can look at it more like this: Out of 49 shot attempts, he scored 60 points (numbers are approximate depending on 3-point plays and non-shooting fouls). Or - out of 49 attempts to score, he scored or got fouled 30 times. That's pretty good.

With a player like Iverson, the amount of fouls he draws is a great indicator of the type of game he's having. If a guy shoots 27 Free throws, he's breaking some serious ankles out there.
