Fred Gems: Eagles' Mitchell sounds off again
Originally posted by Freddie Mitchell "It was kind of like me being facetious and kidding around. They blew it way out of proportion," Mitchell said of his pregame comments. "[Their reactions] reminded me of little girls. They're sensitive. Real, real sensitive."
...
"T.O., he came and did an excellent job ... but that really took away from my play time and my opportunities," Mitchell said. "I couldn't shut a lot of people up that I wanted to shut up. That really hurt the situation."
I don't know what's funnier, watching him basically tell the Pats to learn to take a joke or watching him blame his poor performance on Terrell Owens. But it gets better.
Originally posted by Freddie Mitchell As for the host city, Mitchell said: "Jacksonville had five years to prepare for this, and even with the preparing is it was a bad situation, and I can't believe the NFL handled it like that."
He added: "What really annoyed me was Jacksonville, the city, taking advantage of it. The Comfort Inn suites were $500 a night for a regular room. Just the players' families -- everybody really got taken advantage of."
There's only one Freddie Mitchell. I can imagine he's Jacksonville's favorite player right about now. | Promote this thread! | | vsp

That he makes these comments in the face of such obviously limited ability only makes me like him more. Alas I fear his days are numbered with us. But for what its worth, Freddie Must Stay. | vsp

A receiver with a big mouth, a high opinion of himself, and an average of around 1 catch per game, I'm sure there will be teams knocking down his door during free agency. Those hands that God loves better enjoy the cold of the CFL next season.

Man those last five minutes left a sour taste in my mouth about football.

I prefer players that shut their mouths and catch balls...but that's just me.
A 22-catch season doesn't give you the liberties to shoot your mouth off whenever there's a live microphone in front of you.

| #10 Posted on 10.2.05 2331.32 Reposted on: 10.2.12 2331.38 | I have been finding Freddie quite entertaining lately. Certainly, he has been saying some incredibly idiotic things, but you have to marvel at someone who has just had a 22-catch season saying the things he said. Today's highly entertaining Freddie Mitchell story is the fact that FedEx is looking into possible copyright infringement for his now oft-used phrase "FredEx." I had never seen the actual logo he uses, but when I went to his site, the logo is the exact same font and look of the FedEx logo. I would post the logo here, but I'm not sure if it is legal to do so. | Kane Is Ugly

He has 1 year left, but I am pretty sure he will be either released or traded by draft day. This is kinda like the situation from last year when John Welbourne mouthed off at Andy Reid and he got traded (to the Chiefs) like a week later for draft picks.
But, I love FredEx. He needs his own show. I'd watch it all day. He is just awesome entertainment. If he is lucky, he'll get traded to some crappy team with no recievers like Cleveland or Oakland. | Whitebacon

| #16 Posted on 14.2.05 1041.57 Reposted on: 14.2.12 1044.42 | More from the soon to be ex-Eagle Freddie Mitchell from Peter King's (sportsillustrated.cnn.com) column. Originally posted by Fabulous Freddie Mitchell "If you played this Patriot team 10 times, how many times do you figure the Eagles would win?'' I asked.
"Eight times,'' he said. "To me, the Patriots are not that good. We turn it over four times, and still they only beat us by three. We're the better team. But we turned it over too much. A good team crushes that Patriot team. I'm telling you, they're not that good. T.O. was hurt, and he still scorched them for over 100 yards.''
He called the Patriots a "well, well-coached team. But we'll see how good a coach Bill Belichick is after he loses those two coordinators. That Charlie Weis is a friggin' mastermind."
Speaking of Belichick, I told him Sports Illustrated had quoted Belichick this week as calling Mitchell "terrible ... We loved when he was in the game."
"Oh,'' Mitchell said. You could feel the steam over the phone. "I see. It takes a big man to talk after the game. Why didn't he say anything before the game? That shows what kind of guy he is.''
I asked him his opinion about Tom Brady.
"He's like Ben Roethlisberger to me,'' Mitchell said. "They don't put him position to make mistakes. They limit his ability to make mistakes. He's sort of like a robot.''
When does Andy Reid give Freddie the note that says don't let the door hit you in your mouth on the way out?
