My only real complaint about the split so far is that it's looking more an more like Flair is going to have to play the part of Austin's heel boss. I generally prefer guys when they are heel, but I don't like it when a guy is turned heel when he didn't do anything wrong. I think for a good heel turn you need to do something very despicable, or just be a big asshole (ala Vince). What did Flair do? He tried to sign Austin to a contract then taost him. Austin is the one being a total dick in the situation, and he's going to get the cheers (or at least the majority of them). I know Austin's schtick is the anti-hero, but with Vince there was a point 'cause Mcmahon was a maniacal bastard boss. Flair just seems like he's trying to do his job and give the fans what they want. If they turn him it will be solely to recreate the Austin vs. the boss angle again.

Besides, Flair just does not make a good heel anymore. He is too well liked and respected. Look at his late WCW heel runs, they were just plain bad. Maybe he prefers playing the heel, but for someone who was once the best heel in the biz, it just don't work no more.

Hopefully, they won't turn him, but with his threat of "hell to pay" the next time somebody put his hands on him leads one to believe that a big Austin/Flair fued is brewing. A fued between the two will most likely be great, but they could have found another way to go about it. We've seen rebellious Austin vs. the boss a million times.

Since the fans would cheer Austin for anything short of murder, it appears that they'll have to come up with some lousy excuse on how the unprovoked stunners were Flair's fault. They've already started with JR saying "Flair should've known not to trust Austin". Geez, JR would make a great rape counselor.

I don't think you CAN turn Austin at this point. They tried that already to the point of totally altering his character, and the only thing that came out of it was the WHAT?! chant. Do you really want to risk that again?
I don't see why anyone needs to be turned here. Austin is Austin and Flair is trying to keep control of his half of the brand. I think we're all a little sick of the "evil powers that be" at this point.

I agree with Ike. I don't see why things have to change. It's interesting what they have going here...
