How simple.

You vote and you get the tip of your finger dipped in purple ink that won't wash off for a day or two. You can't vote again as your great uncle Bob that died 4 years ago....One person One vote.
Aside from some of the electronic errors that happened this year wouldn't this simple method of proving you voted once help with some of the voter fraud here in the states?

Wouldn't it help solve some of the stuff we heard this year, 150 more people voted in X county then live there and so on.

Anyway just a thought.

I don't remember the specific countys but I remember hearing about it in different states as I listened to the news on Nov 3rd.

Anyways it was meant as an example not as hard fact.

The inactives are a key reason the number of registered voters in at least seven Ohio counties including Franklin, Cuyahoga and Licking exceeds the estimated votingage population. Franklin County tops the list, with at least 30,000 more registered voters than residents who are at least 18 years old.

The quote is from the last article. So, no evidence (that I found with a cursory Googling, anyway) that these people voted, but plenty of stories about more voters being registered than ought to have been.

Well, let's see...you provide links to three stories - one of which was from December 2000 and all of which are dated *before* the 2004 election...and NONE of which make any claims that more people voted in an election in a county than were residents of that county. Yes, that's a compelling argument...

...but in your defense, you admit as much. ;-)

MY point was it's easy to throw around catchy soundbites like this when we're just typing here, but it's also dangerous when we casually throw out things that aren't really true...and can be easily shown to be so without a whole lotta research. God forbid something that this ever happens... because why would anyone be bothered to believe it THEN? We all have to be careful to avoid a "boy crying wolf" situation...with ALL arguments, really.

Thus ends another lecture from me. I now welcome all pointers to my own hypocrisy. :)

In Ozzy's defense, he may be thinking of this thread (The W) which had links to Stefan Sharkansky's (soundpolitics.com) work showing vote fraud in Washington ( his timeline (soundpolitics.com) of electoral irregularities is also worth looking at) and the Post-Intelligencer's (seattlepi.nwsource.com) story on dead people voting in the gubernatorial election. Or, he may have been thinking of the investigation (jsonline.com) into vote fraud in Milwaukee (jsonline.com). I'm sure there are other examples, but those are also the result of some cursory googling.
