Essentially, they're comparing POKEMON to a gang leader, choreographing other genes to make cells multiply. If POKEMON works properly, though, it does help; the problem is when POKEMON isn't acting right. Now to see if they can develop some treatment to shut off malformed POKEMON.

The real problem, Dr. Jay - and I mean this, is going to be finding the right kind of POKEMON to attack the right kind of cancer. So maybe it's not such a stretch naming as such. In the POKEMON game, your job as POKEMON trainer is to select the right POKEMON to battle another, determining the relative strengths and weknesses of the POKEMON you're battling. If you have enough strengths over their weaknesses, then you win. They lose their power and you can capture them.
Not a bad analogy to how these gene-sniffers work, actually. | CHAPLOW

not [Poke em' on] - [Poke em' off!] (sorry I thought it was funny)
Seriously though, it would be great if they finally have something that can eliminate cancer, I know people who have lost family members to cancer and its obviously a very sad thing.
In an almost-related story, I saw on BET News (go figure, I never even watch BET) that a vaccine for HIV or AIDS (I cant remember which) has passed the first round of testing and should be approved within ten years.
Interestingly enough, both of these procedures involve eliminating the disease before it ever starts (a vaccine, the Pokemon removal)
