I thought the obvious point of this match was that jericho got a win over Benoit to help build him up so he has a bit more of a rub to give to Hassad (sp?) when they get their feud going.
Benoit beating Jericho would have just cemented Jericho's Second Banana spot, but Jericho winning a good 'wrestling' match with the best wrestler they've got (even if just with a roll-up) was both surprising and makes him look pretty good.

That's a great point Freeway420. I only wish much more of the OLDER veterans like the Undertaker would be more willing to do that. That is instead of just stinking up the main event scene on Smackdown.

I'm also thinking that this is Vince's boner to tweak the crowd (Trish chokeslammed, Christian and Val losing), but at the same time, the announcers seemed to be playing up Bizarro World far more than was there. Edge should have audibled and turned Shawn fully over into the Sharpshooter.
It's just cosmetic, but Kane got a nasty gash on the side of his head from the last table. He celebrated afterward, but wouldn't it have been enough to have the ref count a pin (unless they want this to go on at the Rumble)? | tomk

Batista is also about 38.

HBK can't eat a sharpshooter with his back. If you watch the Benoit matches Benoit would apply the sharpshooter really loosely so HBK didn't need to bend and HBK would fully extend himself on his arms. It looked awfull. Edge's thing looked far better. | Tenken347

Then the camera cut away before I saw if the chair hit him or not, but when the camera came back to him, he was rubbing his forehead. I'm pretty sure he hit himself with the chair. | Wpob

I did not see this, but it nothing involving Orton surporses me anymore. The guy had the title for 30 days and he is calling it "his title"? I used to cringe when I heard Orton on the mic, now I am just numb to his stupidity. | wordlife

HAHAHAHA yeah I totally saw that. Classic stuff. I dunno what was worse, Snitsky laughing, smiling through the "horrific buh gawd" fall or Orton cracking himself.
It was awesome to see all the Christian marks out there tonight. He played really well to it and it bothered me that they couldn't give him the Edgerference win as has been stated. That proved to me that they will never give Christian even a shot at moving up the card, which sucks. What does a guy have to do to get a push?!?!?
Honestly, when I saw Batista point to the guy with the RAW IS BATISTA poster, that to me signified that he has turned at least uber-face. Kinda like crazy Scott Steiner at the end of WCW when Midaja (sp?) would grab signs from the crowd. FYI, everything I have read places Batista about Jericho's age (35 or 36) as he was born in 1969. The only reason I remember this was that one of the sites was talking about his chances of coming back from that triceps injury he had. | Wpob

Despite his laughing on-camera, SHNITSKY looked pretty out of it after the cameras went off the air. I was maybe about 10 feet from the gimmicked platform and he still had his eyes closed as they carted him off. Kane was covered in blood on the side of his head (that may have been televised, not sure). The Trish bump looked incredible live, as well.
It was definitely a "Go Leafs Go" chant you guys heard, as well as (from our area anyways) "We want Snitsky (clap clap clap clap clap)" and, of course "You screwed Bret" every 15 seconds or so. It got so bad that they actually started cheering it during the dark match main event (HHH, Batista and Edge vs. Orton, Benoit and Jericho). Shawn Michaels is right: "Enough already". | Matt Tracker

| #33 Posted on 18.1.05 1147.59 Reposted on: 18.1.12 1150.28 | A pretty good show with two stupid bookings ie Kane/Snistky and Christian jobbing to HBK. I thought Benoit/Jericho should have been the main event since Kane/Snitsky is nowhere near a main event in any stretch of the imagination. Also, Snitsky wonderful acting killed the bump even J.R. seemed depressed by it. HBK kinda brings the screwjob stuff on himself, plus it adds something with this HBK sees Edge as a younger version of himself and HBK still can't get away from the demons of Montreal. It would have made more sense to have Christian job to HBK since now Christian is apperantly out of the Rumble while HBK/Edge have a match.
Batista's face turn will probably happen next week, so I am watching for that alone. I do think the Women's division is now done till Lita comes back or Vince decides to hire real female wrestlers. I am thinking Orton will now win the match and Cena will win the rumble in between Batista and HHH will have their match at mania. | oldschoolhero

They stated a good four or five times during the match that Christian had already qualified and that Shawn was in the Rumble without needing to beat anyone, so Christian's definitely in there. I think jobbing Michels here would weaken his blowoff with Edge at the Rumble, especially if he lays down there. Which I think he will. | Big G

Highlight real was good. Daivari's delivery is crazy good, even if I have no clue what he's saying. Jericho was pretty good as well.
Six man was good for a three minute match.
Orton/HHH promo was kinda good because a lot of things that both of those guys said were almost semi-shoots, what with Orton saying HHH has said the same things over and over for 6 years. I used to like Orton. Then I found out that Orton can't cut a promo to save his life. Really, the guy always stumbles over his words.
Batista is great. His match was not. But hey, "everyone hates a selfish, self-centered, egomaniac." That guy comes off with the line of the week every week now.
Benoit-Jericho was slightly below average (below average for them, not for a real match.)
Kane-Snitsky was...the main event. What can I say. Old Gene is horrible, and why people don't see that I don't know. Maybe someone is hot for his pimply back....I just don't get it. Even "bad" workers (like Kane has been called) seem to have some grace, some athletic presence in the ring. Snitsky just moves in these halting strides that make him, actually, quite hilarious. His facials are great, I'll give him that.
And why did JR say that Snitsky was pleasuring himself with the weight belt....? | Greymarch

Benoit is a "magician" for that match he pulled out of Viscera's ass on RAW last week, but Batista couldn't do a thing with the guy. Awful freaking match. I still like the guy but I dunno who thought he'd be able to do anything against the Visc? This is what happens when you kill everyones heat and credibility on your roster, it takes a guy like Viscera to try to get Batista to look good, or like a monster, or whatever.
Micheals should have jobbed with Edge on the interference. This REAKS of an Edge win when they meet up for the blow-off, which of course, Edge should win. If he doesn't a travesty will have occured.
Decent RAW but it becomes easier and easier each week to read a book or eat waffles while I watch.
Now at least I have the Ultimate Fighter to keep me tuned in and waiting.
