| #21 Posted on 5.1.05 1218.50 Reposted on: 5.1.12 1219.31 | Well with my pre-season prediction of a Saints jaunt to the Superbowl dead in the water, I'll see if I can be slightly better than piss-poor for the playoffs.
NFC
Vikings vs Pack
Minnesota are still the next best thing in the NFC on paper as far as I'm concerned. They seemed to totally lose their rhythm when Moss went down for a few weeks though, and never got it back even when he returned.
I'd go with whoever was at home in this one, hence
GB 31 Viks 21
Seattle vs St Louis
St Louis have been flat out awful at times, but have the potential to be much better if Bulger step up even a little.
Besides, Alexander sounds like he's already making plans to be elsewhere next year.
Rams 28 Seahawks 24
AFC
Denver vs Indy
I can't believe so many people are seeing this as the game of the round.
Droughns and Plummer turn the ball over WAY more than Manning and James, ergo Indy romp it.
Indy 41 Denver 17
San Diego vs New York Jets
On current form the Jets are about the worst team in the playoffs. Abraham's return will help, but I doubt it'll be enough.
Chargers 24 Jets 17
Round 2
NFC
GB @ Atlanta
The Pack can't defend the pass, but then Vick can't really throw. If Green Bay establish the run early they should be all right to avenge their defeat of 2 years ago.
GB 20 Atlanta 16
Rams @ Eagles
The Eagles are well rested, and if Westbrook and LJ step up it shouldn't be too tough. Heck the Rams toiled with our 3rd stringers on D.
Eagles 24 Rams 10
AFC
Indy @ NE
Manning finally overcomes the ghosts of playoff past if only because NE's secondary are too injury riddled to handle Harrison and co.
Colts 27 NE 17
San Diego @ Pittsburgh
San Diego have done more than enough to make my pre-season mockery look rather foolish, but the Steelers should be too good.
Pittsburgh 21 San Diego 10
NFC Title Game
Green Bay @ Philly
The Pack will be mad for revenge for earlier in the season, but they won't get it. Smith and Westbrook both demand enough coverage to give Mitchell and Pinkston space to be effective.
Eagles 20 Pack 17
AFC Title Game
Colts @ Steelers
Crap, I've left myself with Indy winning two road games on the trot in winter, or Big Ben getting to the SB. Ah well, I'll take Indy provided they can stop the run.
Colts 30 Steelers 17
Superbowl
Colts vs Eagles
With TO I fancy our chances. We've got enough to stop James getting going and Manning'll be pooped after facing the Pats and the Steelers. Besides, I've got to show a little optimism for a change.

Home town pick for me? Yeah, probably. But the defence is finally coming around (and with Winfield back at near 100% it should be even a little better). I don't think this will be a shootout like the last time around, but I think the offense is about due to break out of its slump, maybe Scott Linehan calls a better game than usual to try to line up a better job for next year, and Favre self destructs one more time.
When it comes to facing the Minnesota Freakin' Vikings in a game of "Who Will Self-Destruct The Least?", I like Favre's chances.
I hate to say I told you so, but....
My Second Round Predictions:
Falcons 35, Rams 31
When they get rolling, the Rams are a threat to score on every play. However, they've got nobody on defense who can contain Vick. Rams lead through most of the game, but the Falcons win it on a late fourth quarter drive.
Minnesota 28, Eagles 24
Minnesota without Moss, Philly without Owens. Seems to be a fairly evened up matchup. All things considered, Philly is a better team, but the loss of T.O. as well as their Playoff woes weigh heavy on them, and Minnesota is hot at just the right time. Nate Burleson has a big game continuing his maturity into one of the league's better #2 recievers and Minnesota's defense is the difference.
Steelers 24, Jets 7
Pittsburg dominates on the ground and on defense. The Jets did a good job stopping up San Diego, but they're not going to be able to handle Pittsburg in the same way. Big Ben's big run continues.
Indianapolis 35, New England 21
Indy's defense is the worst of the bunch, but straight up Manning will be able to carve up the Patriots especially with their banged up D-Backs. Indy gets flashy, and wins by a comfortable 14 points. | PsychoticMidget
