Oh boo. When did you become an abolitionist?
Don't drive drunk. In fact, if you can avoid it, don't drive tonight.
Also, if you live in Texas, watch out for people shooting off guns at midnight.
I recommend staying inside.

"Well, hello, booze!"
The Man is keeping me under his thumb this New Year's...drat. But I might go grab a quick beer or gin & tonic (without which it would not be wrestling) at the Irish bar where our local NWA fed's Jedi Council...er, Executive Committee hangs out and does Usher's "Yeah!" on karaoke each Wednesday.

| #12 Posted on 1.1.05 0943.00 Reposted on: 1.1.12 0943.18 | The wife and I went to our favourite Mexican restaurant and had 32oz Dos Equis (tap). Later we had the dust cleaned out of our Beer Club mugs at Flannagan's and each had a Harp (tap). For the next round I had a Celebrator Dopplebock (bottle - a new goat charm now hangs from my rearview) and she had an Old Speckled Hen (can).
Apparently the New Year's Eve party my friends were throwing was moved from Lebowskifest World HQ (http://www.lebowskifest.com), so we went to my wife's friend's party where she had a couple more Harp's (bottles) and I had Coke (2-liter).
As the last notes of Auld Lang Syne were winding down, we said "See ya suckers!" and were home and in bed by 12:30. Yup, sucks gettting old, but the kid is worth it most days.

I have four friends who happen to all have birthdays on new years, this year they all went to the same bar. We had so many shots that I really can't remember what all I drank.
I can tell you that Jaeger was in some of them, because I'm feeling it turn my stomach to mush as I type and I'll be feeling the after effects for the rest of the day. | messenoir

| #15 Posted on 3.1.05 1455.48 Reposted on: 3.1.12 1456.56 | Through a convoluted series of events, turned out at noon that I was doing dinner for 5. Run to the store, frenzy in the kitchen. First glass of champagne for the chef at about 5:30. Draft the first 2 "guests" as sous chefs. (They were warned that since they're "family", they'd be conscripted. It was actually a lot of fun!) Chefs & guests sipping champers through the watercress soup course. Main course is roast beef tenderloin with duxelles, wild rice, carrots, greens, & a Madiera/beef sauce that was awfully damn good for not starting with "40 cows"*. That requires a fabulous red, so a guest supplied a vintage Silver Oak Cab. Back to the champagne for the rest of the evening, including the cognac cream puffs, killer chocolate Grand Marnier mousse, & assorted fresh berries.
Not a bad little dinner, for not having a clue that I was cooking til noon that day.
