OK, I've been with Sprint PCS for the past 4-1/2 years now for my cell, and all in all, it hasn't been that bad of an experience, but not good enough to keep from looking around. I am pretty certain that I am going to go with T-Mobile as the new carrier and get the Motorola V180 as my new phone. Just curious if any of you have had any dealings with T-Mobile, or used this phone. The reviews around the net for this phone look very good, especially the battery life, which is huge for me. Just wanting your thoughts is all, as I'm thinking of doing this next week as a gift to myself.

One last thing, I was digging around this afternoon and came up with these as the two finalists for my new ring, and I'm leaning heavily for the first one:

Hrm. I love that CHiPs theme, but I also have a soft spot in my heart for Journey. I'd probably just go with Journey out of practical consideration, because I don't think you'll really hear those first few seconds of the CHiPs theme which gives you less time to answer the phone.

Lise, that theme sounds familiar but I have no idea what it is.

I guess it's too early in the buyout for Sprint to contact customers about additional features they'll be offering now that they've got Nextel? That combination of features could be pretty fun.

I had a Motorola as my first phone with Verizon and I loved it. It definitely wasn't a V180 (it's that one that they're now selling as part of the Tracfone package). The battery life on that thing was incredible. I had used it as my primary phone and charged the battery maybe once every three to four days. My brother also has a Motorola similar to the V180 now, but through Nextel. He gets at least a day or two more out of each battery charging than I do, and his signal is a lot stronger when we get out of the immediate area.

Our neighbors have T-Mobile and have complained about dropped calls and bad reception with it. They also spend a good deal of time working out of their concrete basement or at work in an area that's a notorious dead spot for any cel phone reception. A couple of people I work with, who live in more rural areas, have T-Mobile and have said their service is great.

Another vote for the CHiPs theme. It's something that's so familiar yet hard to place; you can use it to drive people crazy in public! And really, isn't that what ringtones are all about, knowing that someone is walking around for the rest of the day muttering, "I *know* that song,"?

I recently jumped to Cingular myself, and they gave me a free Motorola V220 Camera phone.

You can use mp3 ringtones on it. Mine is currently the bridge of the Taker theme off the new album.

Thanks for the input, Steg. With my Sprint cell now, I can sit in the corner of my living room on the sectional couch, and if I lean back while talking, the signal cuts out. In the middle of town. (200,000 total pop.) That shouldn't happen, but it has since I got the phone years ago. I'm just finally geting tired of it, and my cell is on it's last leg. I didn't know about Sprint buying Nextel, tho. I may have to look into that, too. Thanks again!

When me & Mrs. Freeze were looking to leave sorry-ass AT&T, I went to all of the cell phone carrier's websites (AT&T, Sprint, Cingular, T-Mobile, Verizon, Boost, Nextel) and checked out all of their nationwide coverage maps. Most were pretty close, but Verizon had the most coverage IMO, and T-Mobile had the least by far.

We love Verizon now. The difference between them & AT&T is like night & day.
