Has anyone watched any games from the sub I-A schools? I'm excited that my Valdosta State Blazers won the DII national championship. Reminded me alot of the '98 NFC championship . Pittsburg State had some very impressive stats like the most points scored in college history, but to use a cliche..."that's why they play the games." If the Blazers can overcome a 24 point lead to a team they lost this season, such a small thing like fighting against a team that once scored 91 points doesn't become a tall order. Now I can have my head up high since my school has won a national title in my lifetime.

Sadly, I haven't followed I-AA playoffs since Georgia Southern lost their first round game. I also notice that the division III title game gets a fancy name (Stagg Bowl) and logo. Yes, that's all I know of division III football.

All I know about college football playoffs is what TMQ mentioned at NFL.com.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/7998727

He mentioned Valdosta State beating what he likes to call "Pittsburg of Kansas", who have the unlikely mascot name of the Gorillas. He felt that the lose was because Pittsburg "angered the football gods" by repeatedly ran up the score earlier in the year, including 3 or 4 instances in which they were still throwing the ball (as opposed to running, which I guess takes more time), when winning by "7 TDs or more, in the 4th quarter."

He also mentioned Mary Hardin-Baylor beating Mount Union in a division III semifinal (Mount Union is also known for running up the score), James Madison beating William & Mary in the division I-AA semifinal, and Linfield beating Rowan in the other division III semifinal.

Oh, is it true, JALman, that Valdosta State currently has 1,586 more undergradute women than men, as TMQ asserts?

Didn't see if my former HS teammate got any PT, but he and his fellow Wildcats rapped up the Div III title.

Yes. Based on experience, it feels like that there's a 6:1 male/female ratio on campus. But then, some of that experience is usually me in the bus noticing that I'm one of the few men riding inside in the mornings and afternoons.

Two national championships for VSU (the first was in 1979 for baseball): not bad for a former all-women's college.
