Who has an interview the day before Thanksgiving, anyway? THIS GUY
Of the four people I talked to, nobody identified Tintin and Snowy from The Blue Lotus - or at least, not aloud...to me.
This tie was a present from my wonderful wife so I decided it was ALSO a lucky tie. We shall see! I think she got it from karikter, so it's probably imported (which explains the label in French) - near as I can gather, it was made in Italy from 100%...I will guess "silk." Also, it's not a tie, it's a CRAVATE | Promote this thread! | | pieman

I hope the job was for something to do with children.
We refer to them here (my job - ops manager - software consultancy) as zero credibility ties. Someone who wore one who was applying for anything other than a graduate entry position would have to be absolutely outstanding to get anything other than the "well thanks for coming in" line.
That said, I hope your interviewer was not a grumpy bugger like me and that you get the job.

Say, that's a really catchy way to pigeonhole someone based on their ability to do the job. Bravo!
Now I won't claim to know how things work over in Australia, but over HERE, in THIS industry, the workplace tends to be a lot more casual. For instance: once again, I was the ONLY guy wearing a tie at my interview, but much as I make no judgments on them for NOT wearing a tie, they didn't put any on me FOR wearing one. I can assure you everyone I talked to was a lot more interested in my knowledge of Solaris and Apache and how I felt about carrying an on call pager than what I was wearing...not to mention an even bigger distraction: the fact that my hair goes down to my navel. You see, I'm a rich tapestry...a TOTAL PACKAGE. | RYDER FAKIN

I just had a weird thing happen when we were out tonight - I got provoked (read: handed a guitar) and did a classic ANTI WAR SONG! Seemed like the right thing to do at the time, regardless of the crowd...
FLEA: Give me an F....and a U...and a C...and a K! Spell! Spell! What's that Spell?!
Four people - "FUCK"!
ha ha hahah ...."C'mon on of you big strong men, Uncle Sam needs your help again"...
In retrospect, I should have re-worded this for Modern Times, and maybe I will (doubtful) but by verse two, even the dumb rednecks were singing...the Casey Mae was this -
"Come on fathers, don't hesitate, send that boy off before it's too late....be the first one on your block to have your boy come home in a box!
One, two, three...what are we fighting for? Don't ask me I don't give damn"....heh - guess they didn't VOTE!
Oh man - afterwords, I felt like doing Neil Diamond or something else patriotic, but sometimes the situation doesn't allow for that...I did Phil Ochs instead - ain't often you find people into this kind of nonsense CRZ - you gotta do Country Joe and the Fish sometime - the song is "I Feel Like I'm Fixin to Die" or something like that...if only for the reaction. No idea if it's on Karaoke (Staraoke) - Or at least...yeah that one. Damn - my rating has gone to shit. I was Top 10 going into 12/1...guess I shouldn't have called David Stern a spineless cocksucker. Bummer

I DO know that song and your title is close enough...but alas, not in the catalog.
On the plus side, having now heard someone else perform it, I DO have plans to later do "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" and I know you'll be happy about THAT. ;-) | tomk

Its the Kenny Rogers not the Johnny Darrell or Roger Miller version but...its karaoke sing any way you want.

Right on! Great song...I suggest being all anti - "the man" when crooning about "the %tage your paying is too high price"...wow. Just make sure they play the "lyrics only" version...nothing worse than standing there with you dick in your hand waiting through 72 bars of music...most of us ain't Jim Morrison and can stand around being cool.

Nah, this wasn't karaoke, but I know what you mean. It's strange when you change some of KR's lyrics...like making The Coward of the County relate to this or that dude and his sister..or worse, his mama. It's ON! Good thing it's Thankgiging, Arlo never failed me....cept Alice goes on for EVER! GROUP W! hey!

We broke down and finally had ourselves a light dusting of snow. It all melted, of course, but that's a sure sign that worse weather is on the way.
Really, I was just taking a shot at how you'll be sure to miss the milder weather of California in a few months, though I remembered that we've had a string of warm winters over the past few years. | DJ FrostyFreeze

I feel your pain ... I postponed an interview so that I could vote. The interviewer said that was an admirable reason to postpone and that we could definitely reschedule. Well, that was on 11/02 and tomorrow will be 11/30 and I still haven't gotten that interview (even after leaving a couple of messages.)
