Rumours abound here in Toronto that we finally might be rid of Vince...

Carter, Jalen Rose and 2 unknown others to the Jailblazers for
Abdur-Rahim, Vladimir Stepania and Derek Anderson...

Both Carter and Rose are quoted as being unhappy with Coach Sam Mitchell's rotation, which has seen both of them sitting on the bench down the stretch of games.

I, for one, was really hoping that Vince would like what Mitchell is trying to do and would make the effort, but it seems like he and Rose are not going to work out, so send them packing!!!

I think that Abdur-Rahim would look good in the frontcourt with Bosh. Anderson is always a guy I have liked, although he always seems to get the short-end of the stick whereever he goes.

My liking this deal also depends on who the other 2 Raptor players are that are shipped...

I guess this gives people a change of scenery, and there's no doubt that the Raptors need to get rid of VC, but this doesn't really seem like it'll wind up being that big of a deal. VC won't become a superstar in Portland, I don't think, and Abdur-Rahim is one of those guy's who seem to thrive on putting up pretty good numbers for some bad teams.

Abdul-Rahim just seems like one of these guys who ends up on a lot of bad teams. What's this, his fourth or fifth franchise thus far? Has he ever even been in the playoffs? I don't think the Raptors need this millstone around their necks.

You guys aren't seeing the longterm benefits of this deal.

Carter and Rose are MAXIMUM salary players who certainly haven't lived up to their value. If the Raps unload them, they get an insane amount of cap space this off season. They would have enough to lure in Ray Allen who has expressed interest in playing for Toronto in the past (also said it's one of his favourite cities).

Besides Denver, not many teams have free cap space available so Toronto would be an ideal destination for a lot of players.

On top of that, Shareef would only be a temp since he's a free agent this summer as well. That in turn fees up more space.

If you've watched Toronto play this year you'd know that its Bosh and Alston along with their bench thats putting up most of the numbers. Carter and Rose have been benched in the 4th quarters a lot lately.

It's clear GM Babcock is thinking beyond this season. At the most, Toronto can make a playoff experience and maybe even win a round this year but it is seriously time to start over because this team is too far from a championship stage.

Portland just loves to stock up on headcases, don't they?

Shareef is a very good player but he's not a franchise player and he's not going to put asses in the seats. I watched him for years here in Vancouver and you never really notice him until you look at the box score and see the points he racked up.

But he's certainly a better team player then Vince Carter and the Raptors should be looking to build a team because that's the only way you can compete in the East these days.

I don't know if they are doing it on purpose but they really are "heeling" VC up in the public eye. A few days ago he was booed everytime he touched the ball and over the weekend the Raptors had one of their biggest 4th quarter comeback of their existence with VC being benched the entire time... If they were worried that the casual fans would be upset with Carter leaving seems like they are sick of him also.
