"SmackDown! vs. RAW" has ended up taking control of my life. I haven't eaten anything since breakfast, and I only managed to pull myself from the PS2 so I can write this recap.

It's time for The Great Thomas SmackDown! Report!

John Cena: He's back, with a nice hoodie. Surprisingly, Michael Cole is not marking out. Cena says he will win back the US Title. He cuts a rap against Carlito and Jesus.

Tough Enough: Before we begin, Chris Nawrocki is offered a chance to quit due to his broken rib. Nawrocki will not quit. This week, Al Snow cuts... Chris Nawrocki?! That was sad. The other finalists are led by Al into the ring. Let's go to commercial break!

Tough Enough (cont.): This week's challenge: A game of "Capture The Flag" with the Basham Brothers! Whoever can make it past the Bashams and catch the flag in the least amount of time will be the winner. Mike Mizanin is first, and the Bashams catch him, and hold him down until time runs out. Ryan Reeves is next. Even Reeves's incredible strength can't get past both Bashams, but his efforts were enough to earn him a HUGE pop from the crowd. Daniel Rodimer is next. He can't get past, either. Justice Smith doesn't fare any better. Last up is Dan Puder. He almost makes it by a hair, but the Bashams successfully hold him off. The Bashams win the "Capture The Flag" challenge! Is Doug's mouth busted open?

Backstage: Rey Mysterio is WALKING! He finds RVD streching with Michelle, one of the WWE DivaSearch finalists, who is now RVD's personal trainer. Rey decides to stretch with them, and they discuss their upcoming fight with René Duprée and Kenzo Suzuki.

GM Room: Carlito (in a sling) appears and tells Mr. Long he can't wrestle due to his injury. Mr. Long says he WILL wrestle tonight or be stripped of the US Title.

Backstage: Paul Heyman straps in Heidenreich, and tells him that he is the Undertaker's personal demon, and that Survivor Series was a moral victory.

WrestleMania Recall: Andre the Giant says that Hulkamania is over. And then he chokes the interviewer.

Atlanta, GA: Armageddon press conference.

Heidenreich vs. Haas: Heidenreich has a pained look on his face. Haas's goatee is hideous. Heidenreich folds his straightjacket and gives it to Heyman. He's close to crying. Haas goes on the attack, but Heidenreich comes back and hits the SHOULDERBREAKER! But then Heidenreich throws a fit and rolls out of the ring and goes into the crowd screaming "I DIDN'T FAIL! I DIDN'T FAIL!" Haas wins via countout. Heidenreich then curls into the fetal position. "THE MATCH WAS MINE! I BEAT HIM..."

Mysterio/RVD vs. Duprée/Suzuki: Cole and Tazz don't know what to make of the whole Heidenreich situation. Cole has to explain to Tazz why Hiroko is waving the French flag. Kicks galore by RVD. Duprée puts Mysterio between his legs and dances the FRENCH TICKLER! But RVD slingshots Duprée into the ringpost! Inside the ring, Mysterio and RVD hit the DOUBLE LEGDROP to Suzuki! Kenzo's nose is busted open! Let's go to commercial break!

Mysterio/RVD vs. Duprée/Suzuki: TOP-ROPE HURRANCANRANA by Mysterio! FLAPJACK by Duprée! FACT: Kenzo Suzuki led the Japanese Rugby Team. This leads to a discussion by Cole and Tazz about Japanese sports teams. GIANT KNEEDROP by Suzuki! HUGE BULLDOG by Mysterio! Shots to Kenzo's face galore! You wanna fuck the poor guy up?! RVD and Mysterio begin squashing Kenzo. 6-1-9! FIVE-STAR FROGSPLASH! 1.. 2.. 3! RVD and Mysterio climb the announcer's table and celebrate their murder of Kenzo Suzuki.

LAST YEAR: The WWE went to Iraq. This year, they're doing it again.

Kurt Angle: He says that he's the most giving Superstar in WWE, and to prove it, he's going to have the Kurt Angle Invitational. Every week, he will wrestle a hometown hero. And, if by some miracle, Kurt loses, he will hand that man his gold medal! So let the games begin. Kurt's opponent this week is a man named "Dean Fisk".

Angle vs. Fisk: Angle plays around with Fisk for a while, but when Fisk reverses a hammerlock, Kurt gets serious. BELLY TO BELLY by Angle! ANGLE SLAM! ANKLELOCK! Fisk taps out!

Backstage: Orlando Jordan is WALKING! He goes into JBL's locker room, where he finds another DivaSearch finalist fixing JBL's tie. JBL re-introduces us to Amy Weber, who is now JBL's "Image Consultant". Then, JBL and Jordan walk to the ring for JBL's victory speech.

JBL's Victory Speech: "It's morning again in America! Guerrero, Undertaker, and Booker T will be afterthoughts compared to me! People will tell their grandchildren about the time they chanted JBL's name! Since I have been champion, the economy has skyrocketed! I am the symbol of America, and I am proud to be your WWE Champion!" At that moment, Booker T walks in, and tells JBL that he demands a rematch. BUTWAIT! Eddie Guerrero drives in and demands a title match as well! BUTWAIT! Undertaker lumbers in, and gestures that he wants the belt as well! JBL flees the ring, and yells that the three will never get a rematch for the Title. BUTWAIT! Mr. Long comes in and says that JBL's next title defense will be against Booker T, Guerrero, and Undertaker in a Fatal Four-Way at Armageddon!

Tough Enough: The finalists give their reasons why we should vote for them.

Locker Room: Joy (DivaSearch finalist) tries to give Carlito a shoulder massage, but ends up hurting his shoulder. Carlito and Jesus get angry and throw Joy out. Carlito is mad about having to defend his title with an injured shoulder.

Carlito vs. Cena: Cena rushes the ring. He gets to squashing Carlito. CHAIRSHOT to Carlito's shoulder! The two roll into the ring... F-U by Cena! 1.. 2.. 3! OMG NEW CHAMP! That was three minutes, innit? Afterwards, Jesus attacks Cena, and delivers a CHAINSHOT to Cena's kidney! Jesus flees with Carlito. Tazz and the Trainers call in a strecher, and carry Cena off. And... we're out.

That's all for this week. Until then, Good Night, take care of yourselves, and now I'm off to gather up enough cash to buy Brutus Beefcake. BROTHER BRUTI, BROTHER!

Smackdown Thoughts:

The Tough Enough thing was less-brutal then past ones. If Puder got the win, I would've called his win THIS WEEK. If they want suggestions on what to do next week, put'em in a Brawl-for-All against each other....So- is EVERY DivaSearch contest who lost employed by WWE now?....Haas v.s Heidenreich was, well, intersting. That's one word you can use to describe Heidenreich. He's one of the few mult-dimensioned characters in WWE....

The non-title tag match was very good, including Rene's head-first go of it into the post on the outside. Bravo!....Angle v.s Dean Fisk? I don't really know what that accomplishes....I really liked the JBL interview, and it pains me to say that. Him acknowledging that the economy has gone up and there have been no terrorist attacks since his reign was hilarious.....I can't even watch those TE guys on the mic. Yikes....Ya knew the final match wasn't gonna be much, but Cena and Carly played their parts well.

I know wrestling has a male dominated fan-base, but it seems to me they are taking the women in a solely eye-candy direction. This leaves me really, really uncomfortable. I love the lady wrestlers. I was really sad to see Gail Kim and Jazz go. And now I have to watch 5 diva losers plus the spazzy winner? As a lady-type, I have always found the women wrestlers really empowering, but it seems to be the WWE is saying we are only good for being vapid and pretty. And I don't like it.
Am I taking this too personally? Do I just need to get over it?

You forgot that before Taker came in, JBL told Eddie and Booker to fight about interrupting each other, while he and OJ just stepped out..BUTWAIT! The lights dim & get all blue, etc....

You also forgot when Mr. Long came in and said JBL is right, the three will not get individual rematches., and JBL shits his pants with glee. BUTWAIT! Mr. Long says it'll be a fatal fourway!

JBL has become a guilty pleasure of mine, especially for a shitty wrestler. Even back in the APA days, I always thought Ron Simmons carried them both in the backstage segments - DAMN! This is not to say JBL deserves to be the champ, but he has gotten better. He was frickin' HI-lar-E-us with the facial expressions this week - almost Regal-worthy.

Nice recap of another SD! that makes we want to continue my streak of never buying a PPV!

No way, Toast, I'm with you on this one. Yes I did watch some of Smackdown last night on tape, and I have to agree. They fired talented women like Jazz and Gail Kim, then splatter the Diva Losers all over the show doing, yes, nothing important. Ah, how I remember Trish Stratus being that, but that was a LONG time ago. She's not like the rest, she didn't want to spend her WHOLE career being useless, so she did something about it. I have to say I look at her T&A days (Test and Albert) now on tape, and I still can't believe it's the same person....

Anyway, the point is, they dump the really talented ladies for the useless no-knowledge-of-wrestling-whatsoever "Diva wannabes". If I sound slightly feministic, then maybe it's because I've spent almost two years watching joshi and discovering a woman's true worth not just in wrestling, but in life. Okay, that was deep... I didn't see the whole thing, I fell asleep after Hoobergoober's crybaby moment. Didn't miss a thing from the look of it.

I truly believe they'll eventually drop the wrestling for the women and just create a Diva belt for PPV gimmick events like the pillow fights, bra-and-panty bouts and swimsuit competitions.

You know, you've got a point there. And that will be a sad state of affairs if & when that day does come. And they wonder why buyrates are down ...

Matt, while its possible they will eventually eliminate the women's actual in-ring wrestling, I doubt that Vince (or even Steph/HHH for that matter) would try to do that while Moolah and Mae are still breathing.

In your opinion, which women's match(es) resulted in a higher buyrate for its appearing PPV(s) than if it (they) had not been included on the card(s)?

I ask because I can't think of a single one, but maybe my mind's been slipped.

I don't like to see good female wrestlers get shafted in favour of talentless eye candy, but I kinda doubt that the women's division is an impact on buyrates. I don't think many people bought Survivor Series to see Lita take on Trish.

I'm wondering where they're going with the "Angle challenges people in their hometown" storyline. Smackdown the next few weeks is in Rochester, Richmond, Greenville, Nashville and New Orleans, and I can't really think of any big name wrestlers from those places that they could bust out to face Angle. I got all excited when I saw a Smackdown show in San Antonio (given the recent HBK/Angle rumours for WrestleMania), but it's just a house show.

My point isn't women's matches in general ... it's PPV content as a whole.

Are you really excited to see Shawn Michaels in main events again?

If he's wrestling Kurt Angle, then hell yes. It's one of the few entirely fresh match-ups between legends that we've never seen before. It's perfect in a high-profile WM slot.

And if they don't do HBK vs Angle at WM XXI, they ought to have HBK face the Rock at Mania. Even though time is running out for Angle-Michaels because of their respective injuries, they could do it at Summerslam or Survivor Series next year. With Rock, they'll probably only get one match a year out of him for the rest of his career.
