Okay, for starters I've always used either Windows Media player or real one to burn my audio CD's. More often than not it's hit and miss as to if i'm getting a full and working CD out of either one. I also have HP record now but hate the interface.

So, since your opinions have already had a pretty good effect on my computer (Switched to Mozilla, picked up a service tip or two from other peoples problems) I was wondering if you guys could suggest some good burner programs for me.

Is there a PC version of Toast, because that's always worked well for me (on my Mac).

Good question! And while we're at it, does anybody know of a good DVD copying program? I recently discovered www.123copydvd.com in a magazine ad, but I want to know what my options are. Also, I know DVD burners come with software for you to make your own DVDs, but do they come with (decent) software to copy store-bought DVDs?

(Disclaimer: I do not own a DVD burner. They are getting cheap enough, but I think I'll wait until they get a little faster.)

Easy CD Creator is the PC version of Toast (as I understand it) also made by Roxio. I've used it, and it worked fine, but I found the interface to be a bit rougher around the edges than Toast. Then again, that was two versions ago, so take that for what it's worth. It's pretty affordable.

I wouldn't trust Real or WMP to burn anything, quite frankly. But if you're using budget blank CD's, that could also be your problem. I won't buy anything but TDKs or better. Even then, you're going to get a few bad disks in a spool.

There are many other resources for discussing copying DVDs. Unfortunately, this will not be one of them.

I like the interface for Nero Burning ROM, but it is not very verbose. You might like EZ CD Creator - I think Roxio still owns this?

For multipurpose disc burning Discjuggler is a pretty nifty app.

Depending on the speed of your CD Burner you can also use the free versio of WinAmp to do up to 2x burns. WinAmp pro supports up to the full speed of your burner. I've never used this feature but I saw it when I installed the app.

I gotta agree that the interface for the Nero CD burning software is pretty darn good.

If I am legally copying CDs from an in-law, or the library, etc. for personal use this is my choice.

And definitely stick with good quality media to write on!
