Not quite sweet, but in what has to be the fastest this has ever been done, Dreamworks will be putting out SURVIVING CHRISTMAS on DVD in time for THIS Christmas. Didn't this stinker just come out like two weeks ago?

Now on to the good stuff!

--This Week!--

PICKS OF THE WEEK!

La Bete (The Beast) - Walerian Borowczyk made this little French classic back in 1975. It features horrible effects, tons of nudity, beastiality, rape... lots of stuff that make a good cult film, great. This was originally part of another one of his films, called IMMORAL TALES, but the 20 minute segment was expanded upon to shorten the first film and allow this to be released separately. I should probably stress that this is NOT for children.
-and-
LIVE AID - The single greatest concert event of the last two decades... screw Woodstock, this was THE SHOW to be at for any fan of the eighties.

---

Fanny And Alexander - Ingmar Bergman last GOOD film.
Dear god help us! Some asshole in Hollywood saw fit to green light an animated sequel to KANGAROO JACK. He's been sent to the States for this direct-to-DVD crap fest.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Unrated Directors Cut - ...they added in about 15 minutes of gore and talking. It's supposed to help the plot along, which I hope it does cause the theatrical version was a mess. AND there's still deleted scenes? When I saw it in the theaters, it felt like a D&D campaign to me. Seriously! Imagine Judy Dench as an Air Elemental.
The Iron Giant - This sadly underrated little animated film with voices by Jeniffer Aniston, Vin Diesel, and Harry Connick Jr. It's a animated take on ET with this actually being better then the Spielberg film, at least in my opinion.
Elf - and it's about time. This came out over a year ago! What took so long?
The Saddest Music In The World - Guy Maddin pisses me off. He goes from giving a guest starring role to a 7/11 Big Gulp in Tales From The Gimli Hospital to This INSANELY addictive movie and I still WANT to hate him. He's so overly pretentious with his films that I don't want to see them, yet I still do just to see what little shit he'll throw in THIS time, such as Isabella Rossellini with glass legs filled with beer. Top THAT David Lynch or Cronenberg!
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - Clive Owen and Mike Hodges gave us a little film a few years ago called CROUPIER. This is supposed to be just as good. It's basically a remake of GET CARTER, the original film, by the same director and with Owen replacing Michael Caine.
Short Cuts - Robert Altman's 1993 film that proved to the world that Huey Lewis is quite a 'large' man, if you KNOW what I mean.

--TV on DVD--

Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies
Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century: The Complete series. (however, it's only on 4 or 5 discs, so I'm hoping they're double sided.)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7
Frasier: The Final Season
Home Movies: Season one
Kids In The Hall: Complete Season Two
My Little Pony: The First Season
Smallville: Season 3
The Andy Griffith Show: The Complete First Season
The Commish: The Complete First Season
The Office: The Complete Collection - Featuring both full seasons and the Office Christmas Special.
Too Close For Comfort: Complete First Season
Sci-Fi Presents: Clive Barker's Saint Sinner
Sci-Fi Presents: Control Factor - Starring a fully clothed Elizabeth Berkley.
Sci-Fi Presents: Riverworld - Based on a series of books by Philip Jose Farmer.

edit: How can spell check screw up a word that you know was spelled right... like 'in'?

The good stuff? What about this? Or this? Or, for the love of everything holy and sacred in the universe, this?

Dude, you don't put a Christmas movie out in the summer.

I think you're right -- I *think* it is in fact the fastest, narrowly beating out From Justin to Kelly.

That doesn't seem like a fair thing to say about someone's retirement film! (Well, he's done some stuff for TV since then, but still, F&A was his final theatrical film [so far].)

That new movie Noel (by Chazz Palmentieri) is being released in limited release in the theaters and on DVD the same day (although it's one of those self-destructing DVDs).
And then it will be on TNT a couple weeks later.

Brilliant idea! They should also come out with Rocko's Modern Life and Pete & Pete.

I would be lining up outside of Best Buy like a Star Wars geek waiting for Episode 3 if they ever released Rocko's Modern Life on dvd. In fact, they could make it a 10 dvd set consisting mostly of blank screen as long as somewhere in the set they put the "Wacky Delly" episode on there. I AM THE CHEESE!
