I don't feel like reading through the play by play of the RAW I just watched, but I do want to give my thoughts on the show.

Great opening match, Eddie looks roided out, but it's good to see him in all his heel glory.

Spike/Regal wasn't bad.

Raven/BuhBuh was a deceant hardcore bout.

The nWo taking over a trashed nWo office from a *different* show, in a different town, was odd, but funny.

Molly kicking ass RULED.

The highlight of the night was Taker hands down. Great promo on Flair and Triple H.

Other than that the show had a lot of dead spots. I can see Kane getting an old school Undertaker push. Austin seemed uninspired or should maybe it was just the same old act that I'm just tired of.

It was the first RAW of the *new* era so I'll give it some time based on the bright spots. Although I was hoping to see some of the lesser used talent...Crash in a humor spot, and Boss Man don't really count.

Going in to tonight's RAW I was expecting much. As far as I'm concerned, they did a great job with the talent they have available to them. It wasn't a blow away show or anything like that, but it was a solid two hours, and appeared to have more focus on the actual wrestling, which is always a good thing. There are alot of guys on RAW that I like (Bubba, Raven, RVD, Booker T, etc), I don't know if they have the stuff to carry a two hour show though, but hey, if they can put out decent shows like this every week, then I'll keep watching.

yeah, fuck those threads where the show is still going.

it was a decent raw. i don't really get the point of those new things beside the trapezoid-tron (the ones that replaced the vertical screens). the rectangular screens on either side of the entrance looked cool though, especially during kane's entrance.

kane / x-pac as the "main" event didn't really inspire a lot of hope.

i loved stone cold asking vince "you get a chance to look at this yet?" while he flipped him off.

it looks like they're getting their ducks into something resembling a row. the show definitely had some lulls, but they put on a nice effort.

Raw was pretty good, but the whole austin thing is making me sick, why did he stun flair? to show that he's bigger than the boss'? just stupid.

Was it just me, or was the point of that whole episode of Raw to build up some faces? Austin saved the show, the crowd seemed dead and at one point I think I heard soemone try to start a boring chant...

Other than that, decent show...

It was a good Raw. Yeah, we had to put up with X-Pac and his gay tights (if he chooses to wear those tights then he should have the AGD story). They seemed to have better focus and you can see the path they are following to Backlash.

Good show, hopefully they will keep it up.

I enjoyed the show, althought two things "semi-bothered" me ...

(1) The roster split lasted all of 15 minutes - I mean, they said REPEATEDLY that the two brands would remain totally separate (save for the occasional pay per view), and yet here comes Vince McMahon to "crash the party".

With the whole "Austin is a free agent" scenario, I suppose it makes sense for Vince to do whatever he can in terms of recruiting him ... But it still doesn't bode well (to me at least) that they didn't have the confidence to get through one show without resorting to inter-mingling the two "separate promotions".

(2) It was mentioned before (and this seriously pissed me off for some bizarre reason) but WHY OH WHY would someone take the APA's office (turned-over table and empty beer cans on the floor included) and transplant the entire she-bang to a different arena in a different city? I mean, does that make ANY SENSE?

Never mind that everything was messed up AGAIN so that it would resemble the previous fracas on Smackdown!, but (since the APA have been split up) why would the stuff even need to be brought along? Did Bradshaw put in a personal request to have all the stuff lugged around to every arena for nostalgia's sake - kind of like an art exhibition, or a "living memorial" to the ALWAYS POUNDING ASS days of yore?

That just bugged me ...

Bossman should go away. Quickly.

Regal was fun, very interesting watching him brutalize Spike.

The Hardcore match was fun, and I'm glad to see Eddy back.

But but but..my main concern is, we still don't know which side can unleash the power of... The Brooklyn Brawler!

Honestly, even though I knew the Big Show was gonna be the one to "escort" Vince out, I had a fleeting hope it would be the BB, just so Vince could be beaten by the Ultimate Jobber. I mean, Vince has beaten pretty much every major star there is, so that would just make me laugh and laugh and laugh....

Ooo my medication is wearing off...

Personally, I felt there was nothing too bad with Raw. I'm going to give let McMahon being on the show slide, because they just wanted to do that April Fool's thing, and personally it did make me laugh. As for the overall show, I thought it worked. Last week, I was questioning how they were going to do things with no good workers, but they have enough to have good matches, and enough fresh faces to be "Given the Shot" to work the top of the card.

I've already read a review complaining that it's the same old thing... Did anybody expect anything different? It took the WWF 4-5 years to condition the fans into excepting the current style. I doubt just jumping back to an older style was going to be instant. And from the first night of a split crew, you see numerous new angles developing.

On a complete side note... was it just me or was Eddy doing a run-in totally predictable?

First, props to Loco for starting a post-RAW thread. Now, onto the show.

Undertaker ruled, as usual. The way he just kind of snuck in "say what if you like to sleep with your sister" was terrific. The comic timing on that man is pure gold.

As far as reviews claiming this is the "same old thing..." Well, I don't think so. CRZ made a lot of really good points in his recap, so I won't go into detail beating a dead horse here, but the way they went to commercial when Vince was in mid-sentence was definitely a good thing. I just wish Vince would have "sold" it more by being angrier when they came back. I mean, this is nothing revolutionary (yet), but it does seem like the WWF is collectively remembering how to do things right. After all, they've done it before, and it stands to reason that they can do it again.

I think the RAW midcard will be fine, as it doesn't take too much to establish someone as a mid-level talent. They've got Lesnar, RVD, Eddy, etc. The only potential weakness, in my eyes and probably many others', is the top-card. Still, the fans have latched on to Bradshaw and Kane before, it just remains to be seen if they can look believeable fighting the nWo. And, come on, X-Pac is in the nWo, so it shouldn't be too hard.

Anyway, I'll give this first step a Scaia-like cautious thumbs up. All the "raw" materials (oh, the wit) are there, and without Vince and Stephanie, the Sportz Entertainment quota is bound to return to reasonable levels.

Oh, and Stinger, Austin stunned Flair because Flair refused to toast Austin. Maybe a sign of a Flair heel turn.

I dont think there was anything too bad with raw either. I dont like seeing bossman that much though. And even though vince was on the show (and he wasn't supposed to be) there was a reason for him there (supposedly austin). So i am definitely pleased with how the show went except for Austin stunning Flair. But hopefully that will amount to something.

That's too bad for them, because I still don't accept it. Any "style" that makes 20 minutes of bad acting the focus of the program -- that "style" SUCKS.

That's only because we read about it on the net yesterday. If we hadn't been spoiled it would have been an awesome surprise. And even though I had read about it, I wasn't sure if it would actually happen, but I was damn glad it did :)

I just read about Eddy *possibly* returning on Raw, but had forgotten about it by the time Raw was on, so it was a great surprise for me. I didn't know who it was at first, then remembered the Eddy report and marked out like a mo-fo. I'm tellin' ya. Not knowing things and not being on the net really ups the enjoyment of these shows.

I hadn't seen any spoilers about Eddy, so he was a nice surprise, and they could do much worse from a wrestling standpoint than an Eddy-RVD feud. Has promise.

But my RAW MVP was, oddly enough, Buh Buh Ray Dudley. Not only did he hit the senton and pop a great "Hey, it WORKED!" face, not only did he spend a full minute grabbing his nuts in agony on national TV, not only did he show off his juggling abilities (which was a TOTAL non sequitur, but cracked me up anyway), not only did he provide some of his own color commentary (the man graduated from the Iron Mike Sharpe School of Extreme Vocal Volume, clearly)...

...but he won the Hardcore title with an ASSBREAKER.

A frightening match, but entertaining on so many levels.

Quick question on the new set. Did those giant vertical screen type things ever do anything? Every time I saw them they were just blank. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention. I think I liked the old vertical screens better. The main screen was all right, but it seemed kinda smallish.

And why oh why would they replace two awesome looking belts with such a small one? The actual belt looks all right, but it's just too damn little! This is the most disapointed I've been in a belt since they debuted the current IC title. In fact, that new Undisputed title should be the IC title. Now I don't like both the current WWF and the IC belts. I'll defintely miss the old WWF and WCW belts.

And they better not mess with the tag titles! The tag belts have been around since like '87 (at least in general style, I know they changed some stuff on them). They are the last goood belts left in the WWF.

The new belt looks alot like the one Hogan used to carry. Ya know before the (ugh) era of the "Smokin' Skull" strap.
I'm just glad they had a ceremony for the first ever...oh...wait...

They changed color from time to time. That's it. From the looks of them, that's all they're there for...decoration basically. In a way, they reminded me of giant lava lamps, causing me to dub the whole thing the LAVA LAMP set.

Raw was much better then last's weeks snooze-a-rama, and better then I though it would be.

-I like the new RAW set, it's about time. They've had the same set (with minor changes) since 1997. Long over-due.

-The opening RVD/Booker T match was okay, but RVD seemed to be moving a little slow to me. Still if they want the IC Title to mean something again it's much better to give it 6+ minutes on TV rather then the 2-3 minutes they have been giving everything.

-Eddie's back! Woo-hoo!

-I was initally ticked by Vince suddenly popping back in right after Eddie's run-in (is this the point where I start screaming "Glass Ceiling!"?) but as CRZ pointed out it was a nice touch to have him cut-off at mid-sentence. Would of been even better if JR didn't warn us in advance of it, but still nice.

-How much is the WWF paying the nWo for? Not even two months in the WWF and they're already down in the card. From feuding with Austin & The Rock to Kane & Bradshaw in month.

-Undertaker gets line of the night honors with his "Say what if you want to sleep with your sister.". And the crowd of course says WHAT. Nice little interview between HHH/Taker too.

-Buh-Buh Ray the new HC champ? I can live with that. Loved the bit with his juggling and then taking a bite of one of the oranges. The announcers completely missed his "I did it for you D-Von!" celebration afterwards.

-I have a feeling they're saving Brock Lesner's first match for Backlash, but they better have Paul Heyman speak soon because the run-in's are starting to lose their impact.

-Molly a heel? Hopefully she doesn't do a RTC type heel.

-I would of stunned Flair for acting like a madman himself. That's what he gets for not toasting Austin. If anything I think Austin took too long to stun Flair, when he finally did I yelled "About time!" Is a heel turn in the cards for Flair? I don't think so.

-Stone Cold's second stunner on Vince looked really damn cool. Great visual.

Overall a very good effort by the WWF. Ended up being the best Raw in a few months.

-Alex
