| #1 Posted on 9.11.04 0035.00 Reposted on: 9.11.11 0035.24 | I'm trying to put together a CD of really good romantic songs, and I'd like suggestions from people. Some possibilities are as follows:
These Arms of Mine: Otis Redding Endless Love: Luther Vandross Three Times a Lady: Lionel Richie and the Commodores Turn the Lights Down Low: Smoky Robinson Easy: Lionel Richie and the Commodores (maybe) Crazy Love: Van Morrison and Bob Marley (maybe) At Last - Etta James When I Look in Your Eyes - Etta James
Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. | Promote this thread! | | dMp

Also, since you seem to favor the oldies: Billie Holiday - As Time Goes By (any version of that song is nice, but I like this one the best) Dean Martin - You're Nobody 'Till Somebody Loves You Tony Bennett - The Way You Look Tonight (Frank Sinatra does a great version too) Patsy Cline - Crazy
Finally, a nice modern one is Sarah McLachlan's "Ice Cream," it is super-cute!
Trust me, I have matching X chromosomes, I know my romantic songs

| #5 Posted on 9.11.04 0932.20 Reposted on: 9.11.11 0933.24 | It's all relative, of course. Some people like love themes from Disney Animation or 80s hair band power ballads or 70s R&B schlock... But this bunch'll do you right any time:
Otis Redding - Try a Little Tenderness Al Greene - Let's Stay Together Carmen MacRae - Every Time We Say Goodbye Crash Vegas - Smoke Lemonheads - Into Your Arms Mazzy Star - Fade Into You Elvis Costello - Almost Blue Stan Rogers - 45 Years Ben Harper - Forever Chet Baker - Time After Time Lowest of the Low - Subversives (relatively obscure, but do yourself a favor and try to find it)
I'm sure there's more I'm missing, but I'm nowhere near my CD collection. | JoshMann

If you are going Guns N' Roses, shouldn't 'I used to love her but I had to kill her' be up there? Always a good song to request at weddings. Especially when the bar has been open a few hours. Cheap Trick: The Flame. Phil Collins/Genesis: One More Night. And, I hate to admit this, Manilow does work. | dano1701

"Every Breath You Take" is by The Police. Thin air, indeed.
As for contributing to this thread, Mrs. JJD suggests "Heaven" by Bryan Adams, and "Open Arms" and "Faithfully" by Journey. "Just the Way You Are" and "She's Always a Woman" by Billy Joel aren't bad, either. | messenoir
