The way I look at it, you've got Mayweather and Tszyu at the top, with Harris and Gatti right below. I'd love to see Mayweather and Tszyu take on Harris and Gatti (any which way) and then fight each other. I see everyone staying at 140, because all four of these guys (except for Harris) are way bigger draws than Cory Spinks at 147. Spinks/Tszyu might be a great and intriguing matchup for a fight fan, but that's no kind of pay-per-view draw like anything involving 2 of Mayweather, Tszyu, and Gatti would be. The big question is what the various promoters can pull off, with the different contracts and networks and all.

As for the also rans - Hatton needs to start fighting the likes of Jessie James Leija and Ben Tackie - not the top guys. Fighting Mayweather or Tszyu has the potential to be career suicide, and the kid's making enough money right now he shouldn't want to risk that. Mayweather would give him a 12-round boxing lesson, and I think Tszyu actually has a realistic chance of knocking the kid out with one punch in under 10 seconds. SLOWLY step up the quality of opposition, and keep making bank in Manchester. Cotto is a little more there, but I think is still on the "hardened veteran" route, rather than being ready fo rthe top guys. Maybe a matchup against Mitchell?

I was certainly impressed LOOKING at Harris Saturday, at least in comparison to Tszyu, who he seems to tower over. (Harris is 5' 9 3/4", Tszyu 5' 7")

I'd love to see Harris/Mayweather and Gatti/Tszyu as the prelims in a unification tournament liek they had at 160. I don't think Mayweather/Gatti is a good matchup as I'd expect Gatti to get drubbed. Depending on who wins and who moves up weight classes, we could see Mayweather/Corrales II at 140 or (and?) Tszyu/Spinks at 147. I'd love to see Tszyu/Spinks...how about Tszyu/Mayorga at 147 if Mayorga can fight? That thought makes me tingly.

Of course, you could make an 8-man tourney at 140 adding Hatton, Cotto, Judah, and and another guy. (Mitchell? Spadafora?)

There was talk of Gatti/Tszyu in the Australian press before the Mitchell fight.
Today on Fox Sports (foxsports.news.com.au)
A match up with Spinks is mooted.I assume the money is Aussie dollars too, currently about U$.71. They also mention Tszyu/Gatti at MSG. It seems you gotta pony up some big cash though:
"I want a big deal for my next fight. Whatever is the most attractive offer, let's do the business," he(Tszyu) said.

Gatti would definitely bring it, but I reckon it would suit Tszyu for someone to be there all the time, I couldn't see it going to the judges, unless it was for an accidental butt.
(EDIT)
It doesn't look like that will happen Fox Sports again (foxsports.news.com.au)
Gatti backs away from Kostya: THE dream bout between Kostya Tszyu and Arturo Gatti won't happen. That about says it all, even though it isn't Gatti backing off, it's the PPV deals that clash. "Not in my lifetime," Kathy Duva, Main Events' chief executive, said today."
They doubted whether Tszyu would get a shot at another prized junior welterweight, Mayweather, because he is also linked to HBO.
Bugger.

Tszyu/Spinks would be so predictable - just like Tszyu/Judah and Tszyu/Mitchell II.

It's almost like watching a Jake Roberts match from 15 or 20 years ago - the story is always "Jake's just looking for an opening to land that DDT and it's all over" - except the DDT is the straight right.

I think differently because unlike Mitchell (who let his emotions affect his strategy) and Judah (who does less with more talent than just about anybody in boxing), I think Spinks would have a chance to outbox and outslick Tszyu for 12 rounds, just like he did to Mayorga. He doesn't seem too proud to just not get hit without getting any spectacular offense in.

Of course, we'd all agree that Tszyu is about a MILLION times more technically sound than Mayorga, so maybe he'd actually get to Spinks with no problems. I'm just saying I'm intrigued with the matchup.
