Alan Keyes blames pretty much everyone except himself in this AP story on Yahoo!

Let's be bi-partisan on this: picking Alan Keyes hurt Illinois' GOP more than it helped it. Hell -- even Kerry called to congratulate Bush, even though their views differ.

Who wants to take bets on when Keyes moves out of Calumet City?

The reason Alan Keyes didn't place a call: He knew he could only call collect and the charges wouldn't be picked up.
Maybe Alan can go guest star on Sharpton's new show. Now that would actually be good comedy.

Clearly, Keyes has only played one role in politics: the role that was formerly Pat Robertson's - the heavily morals candidate. He doesn't have good plans on economics, he doesn't have any foriegn policy - he's just a morals candidate. Illinois picked him BECAUSE he would lose and they could say that about Obama next time. He's interesting, but weird. But everyone is weird. Alan's just weirder than most.

Eh.... I dunno, AWA.

I mean, there was Oberweis, Rauschenberger and others in state that could have gone up against him. Would the result have been the same? Maybe.

However, that person "taking one for the team" would be a martyr in the IL GOP. Take Kris Cohn for an example. She decided to run against Jesse White for SoS. She lost heavily, but she's now working in Chicago for President Bush. Pretty good consolation prize.

But that's what I meant - see, no one in the state organization had to have the stigma of "losing to Obama" in a landslide. Keyes did that. Now in the next election, six years hence - because, let's face it, once it wasn't "da Coach", Obama was a shoo-in - they can say something like "Obama only won because he was up against a nut"
