While I certainly don't disagree with Joey's concerns about the Mohammad Hassan character (I think they've REALLY got to be careful with this guy), they may as well have had the following headline instead:
I mean, they could have taken the high road, like Meltzer did, with the "Major New Angle On Raw Tonight" (or something to that effect) and it still probably would have intrigued readers to click further. But they, too, took the low road, in my view.
Edit: Any uh... maybe I could have taken the high road, too, now that I re-read my thread title. But at least mine wasn't intentional...

See -- I agree with you completely. They probably WILL cross some lines they shouldn't be crossing with this character, and at that point - 1wrestling has every right to nail them for that.
But so far, they haven't done that. Hassan went out and said he'd been treated unfairly by Americans since 9/11... but I don't think that's "capitalizing" on the tragedy.
Who knows where they'll go with this for certain? Look at how they handled the Eugene character. There was a public outcry that the whole gimmick was politically incorrect (and whether it still is or not is a debate for another day), but they turned the character into basically a slow-witted, lovable guy who really isn't getting much criticism these days.
I'm just saying that they should be allowing the character to offend people first before they say the character is offensive.

I ment to say 94% of Muslims voting against Bush.
Meh it just depends on where this all goes and I surprised there hasnt been some sort of translation of what the other guy said.
What ever he said, it sounded in an angry tone compared to the calm tone of his companion.
But after reading Mikes column, Styles brought how the WWE just loves to get cheap heat.
But hey this could all be for nothing. I mean Hirohito was going to be a kick ass gimmick but they pussed out on it when they realized Kenzo would be gutted alive when he went back to Japan...well that and he sucks.
