Oklahoma City, OK - The Oklahoma City Blazers officially signed Dallas Stars' forward Brenden Morrow to a 2004-05 Central Hockey League contract, the club's front office announced today.

Morrow's first appearance as a member of the Blazers hockey team will be Friday night at the Ford Center as the Blazers take on the 2004 CHL finalist Bossier-Shreveport MudBugs at 7 35 p.m.

Morrow, a 5-11, 210-pound native of Carlyle, Saskatchewan was the Dallas Stars first-round draft pick (25th overall) in 1997. In five seasons with the Stars, he has played in 370 games, recorded 204 points (97-107-204) and served 573 penalty minutes. Last season, his most productive as a pro, he recorded career highs in goals (25) and points (49) while tying a career high in assists (24). His 25 goals was second on the club while 49 points was good for fourth on the squad. He was also a member of the gold medal winning Canadian World Cup hockey team this past September.

With the NHL lockout ongoing, each CHL team is permitted to carry one NHL player on their roster (excluding a goaltender). The Blazers join the Fort Worth Brahmas as the only CHL teams to have an NHL player on its active roster. The Brahmas signed defenseman Brad Lukowich from the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

Morrow's contract with the Blazers allows him to return to the Stars should the 04-05 NHL season commence.
