Most union reps from sports are Republicans. You have to remember, that athletes actually have to perform in order to get paid and make a lot of money. There's a lot of individual responsibility in that, moreso than any other union.

Incidentally, the following I can verify are Republicans
    - 9 out of the 10 NASCAR drivers
    - Jack Kemp
    - Steve Largent
    - JC Watts
    - Palmeiro
    - Gonzalez
    - Todd Heap
    - Matt Stover
    - Brooks Robinson
    - Boog Powell

I guess he decided to do so after the ownership of the Red Sox endorsed Kerry over the weekend. Fair enough.

Most of the Cleveland Cavaliers are Republicans.

Athletes have their unions, but a lot of them make more than the Kerry-delineated $200K/year. If they are looking at their wallets, why would they vote for someone who is going to raise their taxes? Hence the generalization of most atheletes = GOP.

Which is also why I am voting Democrat.

INTEGRITY.

Just kidding, but that's what they'd probably say if you asked them.

Probably because being a part of a single movie/tv show does not make you set for life. Success to Failure ratio is much different, as athletes in major sports are going to get paid for their contract year whether they play for a shitty team or not. Most actors have to continue to work for years and years before they make it big, and a large percentage never make it at all. While not everybody has the talent to be a professional athlete, once you make it you're pretty much set.

I could see that, any Canadian sports fan can tell you one of the major problems getting players to play up here is our higher taxes. Kerry tax plan hits them right in the bank account.

My favorite athlete talking about politics was this Nascar driver who was on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. He talked about him supporting Bush because she shock his hand & looked him in the eye and just knew he's a man he can trust... Blitzer started talking about the issues of the election and the driver responded "I'm not a big 'issues' guy" lol sigh
