So, I know everyone loves Boston right now, but they are not some small market team that came out of nowhere. They have a lot of good talent that did not come cheap.

I was just about to say the same thing. While the Redsox haven't won in a looong time, I think the Cubs winning would be even a bigger once in a lifetime thing, like Foley's win. I'm thinking the money discrepancy between WWE and TNA would be more akin to the Montreal Expos beating the Yankees.
The Red Sox' payroll was about $117 million, but that's not "far and away" second most. The Angels clocked in at around $100 million.
